      Hi Benny,

      Thanks for your question.

Just want to confirm, for how long have you been an AMEX David Jones cardholder? As stated in the T&Cs:

      1. “The 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards Points offer is only available to new American Express Card Members who apply online by 30 November 2016, are approved and spend $1,500 on their new Card in the first 2 months from the Card approval date.

      2. Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any other Consumer Credit Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for this offer.”

      Hope this answers your question.

      Cheers,
      May

      Hi J,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

Owning a credit card (Visa and AMEX) issued by Westpac should not affect your application. So long that you meet the criteria and requirements for the American Express Explorer Credit Card, you can apply and will be eligible for the 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards Points.

      Cheers,

    Hi

Can the 100,000 points be transferred into velocity rewards points?

Brent, don’t count on the 100,000 sign up points if you held any other Amex product in the preceding 18 months. According to Amex, you must firstly serve an 18 months sentence for the crime of having owned an Amex credit card previously. During the sentence period you cannot own any Amex card, and only once you’ve gone for 18 months without having an Amex card, can you apply, and become eligible for the sign up bonus. I spent numerous phone calls to Amex debating the (lost on me) logic behind this condition, and they insist this is their intent, i.e. to drive away customers for the period of 18 months before allowing them to come back (assuming one would want to come back to such an illogical company). Nevertheless, I obliged and promptly cancelled two of my Amex card (different type cards to this one), and now I am 3 months into my 18 months sentence for all the crimes I have committed against Amex, including being a loyal supporter since 1994. If you didn’t find this position Amex are taking on the matter comical, you would most certainly cry, wouldn’t you?

      Hi Dan,

I’m sorry to hear about the issues you had with American Express and thanks for sharing your honest feedback here.

While I understand your thoughts, American Express was also clear in defining the terms and conditions to receive the bonus offer which is “…card members who currently hold or who have previously held any other Consumer Credit Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited in the preceding 12-month period are ineligible for this offer.”

      Cheers,
      Anndy

      Hi Brent,

      Thank you for your question.

Do you mean Velocity Frequent Flyer points? Yes, you can transfer your 100,000 Membership Rewards points to Velocity FF points, conditions apply. You are also required to be a member of the Velocity Frequent Flyer program to be able to transfer the points. I’ve sent you an email with the link on how you can transfer points.

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers,

      Hi Gihan,

      Thanks for your question.

Unfortunately, the 100,000 Membership Rewards Bonus Points offer is not applicable to members who currently hold or who have previously held any other card products offered by American Express in the preceding 12 months.

Please also note that in order to receive the bonus points offer, new card members should apply online and be approved by 30 November 2016 and meet the spend requirement.

You may wish to check our comparison page for more rewards credit card options.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,
