Pros
- The annual fee of just $30 is one of the lowest in the market for cards that have an annual fee.
Cons
- For a card with low fees, there are better options. For someone looking for no annual fee - they're better off going with a 'no annual fee credit card'.
- The interest rate on purchases of 19.39% is high compared to other cards in this price bracket.
- There are only 44 interest free days on purchases compared with 55 with most other cards and there is no interest holiday on purchases when you first get this card.

I used to be an ANZ customer but I changed over the Westpac. Although this credit card is making me think I should go back!
Hi just wondering if i would be eligible for this card? I attend university full time but receive $19,990 per year. This is made up of centrelink and twice yearly scholarship payments of $6,000. I turn 18 in a months time. Thank you
Hi Stephen. In the time it’s taken me to write back, you would have turned 18 — Happy Birthday!!!! So, to apply online, you will need to put down an employer and income — best to speak to a lender directly to give yourself a better chance of approval. Every time you apply for credit, it gets marked down as an enquiry on your credit file — too many of these in a short space of time and you shoot yourself in the foot — warning signs for potential lenders. Thanks.
Do you have to have a full time job to be eligible
Hi Helen. No you don’t have to be employed full time to be eligible for a credit card. If you can meet the minimum income requirement for a credit card (in addition to the other application criterion) you shouldn’t have any issues. Jacob — sorry for the delayed response.
Hi there.
I have been in the country for a year on a 457 visa now.My application for permanent residency has been processed and should be finalised soon.
Do I qualify for the ANZ first Visa Credit Card?
Hi Ryan. Thanks for your question. Temporary residents are open to apply for ANZ credit cards if they have a 457 Visa, and it extends for nine months after your application. People on a student visa can also apply, but the maximum credit limit is $500 or $1,000 and you must have more than five months of your visa remaining. If you’re in the process of becoming a permanent resident, there shouldn’t be any issues if you meet the other criteria. Cheers.
hi
i am a student, and gain centrelink but at the same time i am working, but don’t get pay slips as i get cash in hand
will this be a problem?
Hi Timothy. Thanks for your question. You will need to prove that you’re earning a certain amount by providing payslips. If you can’t provide these documents to show you meet the minimum income requirement you will not be eligible for this card. Cheers.
I have no referee to offer does that rule me out.
Regards.
Hi Peter. Thanks for your question. You will need to list a referee in case the lender can’t get in contact with you. You will also need to list your employers contact details – so you can double up there if you don’t have a referee. Jacob.
Hi,
I am international student who has sponsorship with regular monthly income ( in my Australian account ) from the overseas sponsor. Can I apply for this card?
Thanks,
Bahjat
HI Bahjat. Thanks for your question. In order to apply for this card you need to be a permanent Australian resident. Please check this page for a list of providers that make their cards available to temporary residents. Jacob.
