If I am applying for a balance transfer and am planning to close those cards with the funds from the transfer do I include those amounts as a debt or exclude them as they will be gone if the balance transfer is approved

      Hi, Ros.

      Thanks for your question.

When you apply for a credit card and elect to transfer a balance to that card, in the application you will be required to list your current outstanding balances with other credit card, including the amount you wish to transfer to the new card.

      I hope this helps.

      Hi Pablo,
      thanks for the question.

The section labelled ‘total credit limit’ in the ‘existing credit cards’ area refers to the limit of your existing cards, not the amount owing on these cards.

      I hope this helps,
      Marc.

      Hi Richard,

Thanks for the question. The Bankwest Breeze Gold MasterCard terms and conditions say that: “you can make payments to your Card Account: via phone banking and Bankwest Online Banking, via BPAY payment or pursuant [sic] to a Direct Debit Services agreement you make with us; by mail to the address on the Card Account Statement”. In order to not get charged a late payment dishonour fee, your best option is to set your account up with Bankwest Online Banking. You will receive your statements electronically so there will be no waiting for a letter to arrive by mail and your payments will be processed the same or next day significantly reducing your chances of incurring an extra fee for late payments, provided you check your online account regularly. I hope this helps.

      Cheers
      Jeremy

After the transfer rate period, some banks charge the cash advance interest rate on this amount. What rate do you charge on the transferred amount?

      Jacob | April 9, 2013

Hi Beth. Thanks for your question. If you close your old credit card account (you don’t have to when you carry out a balance transfer to a new card), any accumulated rewards points are forfeit. Sorry for the lateness in this response. Jacob.
