Hi Cassie,

Thanks for your question. The Bankwest Zero Platinum MasterCard offers 55 days interest free on purchases in addition to a 1% interest rate on purchases for 6 months. What this means is you will not receive any interest for the first 55 days of your purchase. After the 55 days, you will incur a charge of 1% interest on the outstanding balance for the next 4 or so months. Both the 55 day interest free period and 1% interest on purchases for 6 month offer start from the date of the purchase. After the 6 month period the 1% interest rate will 'revert' or go back to the normal (and much higher) standard variable rate of interest for purchases. "Note: The interest rates and offer details mentioned in this comment were current as of 09/02/2012"Hope this has made things clearer for you. Cheers.

Hi Laura,

For a detailed list of the terms and conditions please refer to the Bank West Zero Platinum Mastercard PDS http://www.bankwest.com.au/library/pdf/PDS_20060801-154923.pdf - To summarise some of the more common points that people enquire about: children are covered if they are unmarried, under 18 and live at home or are 18 to 21 and are studying and still live at home or live at home when not studying. There are exclusions to the policy and you are also required to pay an excess for some claims, please see the PDS for further information. Thanks for your question, hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi Pal,

There are a number of ways to pay the outstanding balance on a credit card from a 3rd party online source. The easiest way is to set up the credit card in question with your BPAY account or add the credit card into the list of payees in your internet banking account. All you have to do is deposit funds on to the card and the outstanding balance owed will be reduced by the amount you have payed. Please note that it may take a number of business days for a transaction to be processed between lenders. Thanks for your question. Cheers.

Can the outstanding balance on this credit card be paid through online banking from other banks apart from Bankwest? Is there a fee for paying this way?

What does "1% p.a. for 6 months (reverts to 17.99% p.a.)on it purchases" actually mean? I'm sorry I don't understand why have a 1% if it's going to "revert" to a higher percentage, when does "revert" etc. This particular line on all the credit card offers stumps me.
