Cathay Pacific Marco Polo Club Frequent Flyer Rewards Program
Posted October 31st, 2011 and last modified May 17th, 2013
Fans of Hong Kong’s flagship airline Cathay Pacific probably already know about the Marco Polo Club Frequent Flyer Reward Program, but if you haven’t heard of it, and spend any time travelling in and around Asia you need to pay very close attention to what’s on the rest of this page.
Cathay Pacific and DragonAir run a special air miles reward scheme aimed at anyone regularly using their services, and those that become part of the club can earn themselves some amazing rewards, not to mention some very nice travel perks.
Cathay Pacific Marco Polo Club Frequent Flyer Rewards Program- What’s Involved?
The program is aimed at anyone who uses either Cathay Pacific or DragonAir on a regular basis. Club members earn points every time they fly with the airline, and can also earn points by spending money with any of the Marco Club affiliate partners.
Some of these partners include, Hilton Worldwide, The Swire Hotel Chain, Marriott International Hotels, The Shangri-La Hotel group , and then car hire firms Avis, Sixt Rent a Car, and Hertz. As you can see the partners working along side the scheme are all businesses in the travel market so there’s a very good chance you’ll need to use them when you book your flights.
Of course once you earn enough points you then get to choose whether to redeem them for some free flights, hotel bookings, or another type of travel related incentive. Those who use the airlines frequently can quite easily earn themselves a couple of free flights a year.
There are also a number of other perks for members.
Membership Set-up
The scheme is set up in tiers. The perks and freebies members are entitled to depend on which tier of membership they belong to.
Green Members- This is the first tier of membership, and those belonging to it are treated to a dedicated 24 hour booking service, additional baggage allowance, extra legroom on flights, special club counters, and members lounge access.
Silver Members- Silver members get all the benefits the Green members enjoy PLUS, advanced seat reservation, additional cabin baggage allowance, additional baggage allowance, priority baggage handling, and access to the Cathay Pacific Business Class lounges.
Gold Members- These members get everything the Silver and Green members do PLUS, an Economy Class seat as long as you book 72 hours before a flight, an additional baggage allowance of 15 kilograms, arrivals access, and the facility to invite a guest into the member lounges.
Diamond Members- This is the top tier of membership, and Diamond members enjoy all the privileges that Gold members receive PLUS, a business class seat if travel booked 24 hours before flight, First Class counters, 20 kilograms of extra baggage allowance, 15 kilograms of extra baggage in the cabin, access to the Cathay Pacific and DragonAir First Class Lounges, and the facility to invite up to 2 guests into the lounges with them.
As you can see members of the Cathay Pacific Marco Polo Club are very spoiled, and as loyal customers of the airline, why shouldn’t they be. Membership to the program is only $50 so if you’re a regular visitor to Asia then why not take advantage?

I am flying to Europe On Cathay in August 2013 and wish to join Cathay Frequent flyer program to earn FF points. Can you please tell me how to join the Cathay program. I’m already a Qantas Frequent Flyer/Amex/Westpac Altitude member. Do I need to join Cathay program to earn points from my pending Trip. Thank you..Vic Aston
Hi Victor. Thanks for your question. Cathay Pacific has a frequent flyer partner program called Asia Miles. You can find information about this frequent flyer program online, and you can join the program via their website. Cathay and Qantas are also partner airlines, so you may be able to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points and status credits when you fly with Cathay too. Hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else. Jacob.
