Citibank Clear Credit Card – 55 days interest free Credit Card
Posted January 22nd, 2007 and last modified December 24th, 2012Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Have a good credit rating
- Earn a taxable income of per year or more
- Permanent resident of Australia
The Citibank Clear is highly beneficial if you:
- Find it difficult at times to pay off your monthly balance in full, thus only paying a low interest rate.
- Likewise, if you consistently pay off your balance in full each month, you'll effectively only be paying $0 in interest repayments.
The Rest
If you look past the basics however, it becomes clear that the annual fee that is attached to this credit card is for other things. It is referred to as an annual card fee for your credit card and that means that you are essentially paying extra for the extra account services that come with the card. These are services like universal access to your account. Citibank allows you to access your credit card account and statement through either the internet or the phone, both of which are available even on holidays around the clock. Citibank is known for having some of the best customer service options in the world, which may contribute to their annual fee being higher than you might see with other credit card options.
Standard of 95% of credit cards, a 55 day grace period on retail purchases too graces the card. This is indeed the interest free period on purchases so long as your balance is paid in full and on time and it is an average grace period as far as low interest credit cards are concerned.

The Final Verdict
From Credit Card Finder®'s perspective, Citibank is praised as one of the most competitive banks to offer credit cards in Australia. However, while quality, its low interest card is simply not as competitive as other offers available for online application.

Credit Cards Comparison
* The credit card offers compared on this page are chosen from a range of credit cards CreditCardFinder.com.au has access to track details from and is not representative of all the products available in the market. Products are displayed in no particular order or ranking. The use of terms 'Best' and 'Top' are not product ratings and are subject to our disclaimer. You should consider seeking independent financial advice and consider your own personal financial circumstances when comparing cards.

This page says that this card offers 0% on balance transfers “followed by 4.9% forever following”. I couldn’t find anything about the 4.9% on the Citibank website so called them to check. They said that they only offer 0% for six months, then it reverts to their normal interest rate. Not sure if this site is not up to date or if there has been an error made somewhere!
It’s been fixed up, thanks for that Sam.
You still seem to have this wrong – the offer is 0% for 6 months then 12.49% – not 7.9% for life.
Hey David,
You’re getting the ‘Citibank Clear Card’ and ‘Citibank Personal Credit’ confused.
Citibank Clear has 0% for 6 months, then reverts back to 12.49%.
Citibank Personal Credit has 7.9% for life.
Hope that clears something up for you.
Is it possible to transfer the balance from a UK credit card? I am an Aussie citizen and permanent resident but am still trying to pay off a UK credit card.
Hi Trish
Thanks for your question
The credit card balance must be with an Australian financial institution in order for you to do a balance transfer.
Cheers,
Jeremy
