Citibank Personal Credit – Details and Application

Posted May 11th, 2008 and last modified August 16th, 2010

Review of Citibank Personal Credit Visa

Over the last few years Australians have become more budget conscious and many are finding themselves struggling to bring escalating high interest credit cards into a manageable position. Many credit card providers are taking advantage of the consumer need to find an equitable solution by bringing out introductory balance transfer offers with zero or low interest rates for a short term period.

On the surface these look appealing and offer potential solutions but many don’t realise that if they fail to pay their balance by the time the offer period runs out they become liable for the standard rate of interest – putting them right back where they started from.

Citibank Personal Credit has come up with a solution that can you solve your high interest problem for once and all, with a balance transfer offer of their own. However, this is a balance transfer with a definite difference, no short term introductory period on this offer; this is a low interest rate of 7.9% for 12 months (reverts to 15.59%). You are not going to see deals like this in the marketplace too often.

Citibank Personal Credit is a bit different to your standard credit card account; it is a line of credit that you access by using your Citibank Visa debit card. Not only can you consolidate your debts with this extraordinary balance transfer, but you can also make purchases at a very attractive rate as well.

Citibank Personal Credit Features

  • 7.9% p.a. for 12 months on balance transfers and purchases
  • No ATM fees, no cash advance fees and no transaction fees when using Citibank Personal Credit card
  • Credit limits range from $5,000 – $25,000, for approved applicants
  • Use your Visa card at the local shopping centre, over the telephone or online
  • Chequebook available on request
  • Set up monthly repayment with direct debits
  • Ongoing credit line
  • Withdraw fee free cash from more than 1200 ATMs throughout Australia or 820,000 worldwide
  • Use your card for everyday living expenses

With all the credit providers competing for your custom with this feature and that offer it gets confusing to know just what the best value deal is for you. Citibank Personal Credit quite simply is the answer to getting your finances in order and saving yourself money on high interest rates. You have the flexibility to still be able to spend with an attractive interest rate, whilst knowing that paying off your debt isn’t going to cripple your budget.

Do be aware of this card that when they do make the payments to pay off other credit cards for you, they pay by cheque only and take up to 10 working days so if you are working to a date line of when one runs out on a 0% interest leave plenty of time for the transfer
