Review: Citibank Rewards Credit Cards

Citibank has a rewards credit card program to suit all lifestyles. It will leave you with the same experience enjoyed by world travellers as you dine out with Citibank’s Dining Program where you enjoy only the best food and wine, and of course, the best of all is the rewards that you can redeem your points for just by using your card for everyday purchases.

The Citibank Rewards Classic Card is no longer available for new applicants to apply for, however, they do have the Citibank Rewards – Platinum and Citibank Rewards – Signature cards to consider.

Insurance

With the new Citibank Rewards credit cards you will be able to enjoy the utmost in peace of mind with its inbuilt complimentary purchase cover insurance. This insurance gives you a whole three months cover against accidental damage, theft, or loss for new purchases.

Fraudshield

Then there is Fraudshield. This is how Citibank detects any doubtful transactions taking place on your account. When alerted Citibank will make contact with you immediately, no matter where you might be at the time, overseas or at home. All you are required to do is to contact CitiPhone Banking and have your contact details recorded before you embark on your travels and you’ll know someone is watching out for your finances while you’re away.

Emergency Card Replacement

You will even be provided with an emergency card replacement service should you lose your card in any way. Your card will be replaced within 48 hours if you are overseas at the time and in only 24 hours if you are anywhere within Australia.

      Hi,

What does “Guaranteed expiry for a minimum of 6 months” mean?

I thought gift cards normally last for 12 months

      Thanks

    Hi,
I have 68,000 reward points, what can I get for that?

    • Staff
      Jeremy | November 9, 2011

      Hi Roz

      Nice work – congrats! :)

It really does depend on what you were to redeem the points for. Here is 1 example where you redeem the points for gift cards:

      68,000 Points =

3 Myer $100 Gift Cards @ a rate of 17,200 rewards points per $100 gift card

plus 1 Myer $50 Gift Card @ a rate of 8,900 rewards points per $50 gift card

      Total Cost in Points: 60,500
      Remaining Points: 7,500

      Hope this helps!

      Cheers,

      Jeremy

I have been sent the new rewards card but have not activated it yet because I do not know if it replaces my platinum visa card that I already have?

    • Staff
      Jacob | April 5, 2013

Hi Susanne. In the time it’s take to write back, I hope you’ve activated the card; however, unless the card was specifically sent out as an upgrade or replacement for your old credit card, it will not replace the new one you have. Sorry about the delay. Jacob.

Where can I find information listing what can be redeemed with points?

    Hi,

I am interested to apply for this card but would like to know if the points can be used towards any airlines. I can see that you can transfer to specific frequent flyer programs, but is there a search engine to search for flights from any airline?

    Thanks
    Veronica
