Benefits of using a Coastline credit card

Both types of credit cards that Coastline offers come with their share of benefits, and while their rewards program requires special mention, there are other advantages as well.

  • Rewards program

While a number of credit cards give you the ability to earn reward points, certain cards don’t provide too much freedom when it comes to redeeming accumulated points. Coastline’s Rewarder program is noteworthy because it allows you to redeem your reward points through any merchant in Australia that accepts EFTPOS payments.

  • Easy access to account information

Coastline credit card holders have free and round-the-clock access to internet and phone banking, which they can use to go through different kinds of account related information.

  • Visa benefits

Both Coastline credit cards come with Visa affiliations, so cardholders benefit through Visa’s 24/7 fraud monitoring system. ‘Verified by Visa’ works as an additional layer of security when you use your credit card for shopping online.

How to apply for a Coastline credit card

You can complete your credit card application by visiting any Coastline branch, where a representative guides you through the entire process. You can also complete an online application, and to do so simply click on the ‘Go to Site’ button next to the credit card of your choice. Establish if you meet the eligibility criteria before you apply, and the eligibility criteria for the Coastline Visa Credit Card are as follows.

Eligibility criteria

  • Age. You are over 18 years old.
  • Residential status. You are a permanent resident of Australia or an Australian citizen.
  • Income. You have a regular source of income through employment.
  • Bankruptcy history. You are not, or have not been, bankrupt.

Required documents

To complete the application you have to provide certain information that Coastline uses to verify your identity and establish the risk of providing you credit. Keep the following information handy when you start with the application.

  • Personal details. This section requires your name, phone number, residential address, email address, residential status, marital status, and number of dependents.
  • Employment details. Prepare to part with the name and contact details of your employer along with your employment status.
  • Financial information. Your financial information includes details about your income, assets, expenses, and liabilities. Here, you have to provide details about income from all sources; details about assets like real estate, vehicles, and jewellery; expenses like rent, tuition fees, and utility bills; and liabilities like home loans, personal loans, and credit cards.

What happens next?

Once you submit your application Coastline reviews it and if it requires any additional information it gets in touch with you. Since Coastline calls your employer for income verification, you can quicken the process by informing your human resource department in advance.

Australian regulations require that new Coastline members go through an identity verification process, and you have to complete this before you get your new credit card. This might involve a trip to Coastline branch.

Frequently asked questions

A number of questions appear frequently when it comes to Coastline credit cards and here are answers to the same. If you have a question that doesn’t find mention here, do use the form at the end of the page to ask.

Does the online application take long to complete?

No, with access to all the required information you can complete the online application in a matter of minutes. Besides, you can also save a partially completed application and retrieve it later. If you are an existing Coastline member you can quicken the process by accessing the application via internet banking, as doing so pre-populates some of the information.

How can I check the status of my application?

You can check the status of your credit card application by calling the Coastline contact centre at 1300 36 1066.

Does the rewards program attract a fee?

No, as a Coastline credit card holder you get free membership to the Rewarder program.

How can I keep track of my reward points?

You can log into the Rewarder website to find out how many points you have and to view your points’ history. You can also call the Coastline contact centre or refer to your credit card statement.

How do I use my Rewarder points?

You get a Rewarder card along with your Coastline credit card, and this is where all your reward points accumulate. Your Rewarder card comes activated, and you can use it at any Australian merchant that accepts EFTPOS payments.

Are my Rewarder points the same as cash?

While you use your Rewarder points to make purchases, they’re not the same as cash because you can’t withdraw your reward points using ATMs or cash out facilities.

How quickly can I access my reward points?

When you make an eligible purchase, the reward points transfer into your Rewarder account almost immediately, and once these points are in your account you are free to use them as and when you like.

How can I make repayments?

You can make payments using just about any Australian bank account, either via cheque or through electronic funds transfer. If you wish to pay by cheque you can mail it in or drop it off at a branch. You can also pay via BPAY.

Do these cards attract the same cash advance and purchase rates?

Yes, both Coastline credit cards come with the same purchase and cash advance rate. Bear in mind, though, that cash advances attract cash advance fees.

What should I do if I lose my card?

To report a lost or stolen credit card you should call Coastline’s toll free number immediately. The number is 1800 621 199. An alternate number to call is (02) 9959 7686, and if you’re calling from overseas you should call 00 61 2 9959 7686.
