How do I apply and what are the basic requirements that I must meet?

To be eligible to apply for the credit card you need to be an Australian citizen or permanent resident aged 18 years or over. Those who are going to be in the country for the next 12 months and have the relevant visa will also be considered.

You do not need to have a flybuys card to apply; however, if you are a flybuys member make sure you link your cards to get even more rewards.

What questions are included in the application form and is it safe to apply online?

You will be asked the nature of your employment and your income in your Coles MasterCard application. You will also be asked to provide identification details such as a drivers licence. If you’re renting, you will also have to give details about your landlord.

You will also have to select a password which is a unique code. Your password must be kept private and should not be shared with anyone. You will need the password to activate the card once it arrives and when you contact customer support by phone.

When will my card arrive and when can I start using it?

The card can take up to five to ten days after you submit your application. Sometimes applications may need a closer look, therefore delaying the arrival of your card; however, you will be contacted within three days if this happens. Once the card has arrived you will have to activate it – without doing this you will not be able to use it.

Note: you may be sent a Platinum Coles MasterCard even though you apply for a standard credit card. This process is automatic and is because you meet the eligibility for the Platinum credit card. The Platinum card has no extra charges attached to it and provides benefits such as Merchandise Protection Insurance and MasterCard Assist.

      Hi Jess,

      Thanks for your question.

Once approved, you will typically receive your credit card within 1-2 weeks. However, in some cases, applications may still need a closer look, therefore delaying the arrival of the card.

Should you wish to track your application, please speak directly with a member of the Coles Customer Care team at 1300 306 397.

For further information, you might also like to check our guide on how to check credit card application status.

      I hope this helps.

Can I use my credit card limit to pay my loan account money via BPAY? Is there any charges for that?

    • Staff
      May | June 22, 2016

      Hi Imtu,

      Thanks for your question.

Sorry for the delayed reply. If you want to use the BPay scheme to pay for your loan account, you may need to contact Coles first to verify. As in the Coles MasterCard Conditions of Use, pages 4-5, it states:

2.10 If we advise you that this service is available, you may pay bills using the BPAY® scheme through the Online Service Centre or in any other way that we advise you in writing.

2.11 In order to use the BPAY® scheme you must first register for the Online Service Centre and accept the Online Service Centre terms and conditions.

2.12 Your use of the BPAY® scheme is governed by the credit contract and the Online Service Centre terms and conditions (as varied). You will be given a copy of the Online Service Centre terms and conditions when you register for the Online Service Centre.

For your reference, I’ve forwarded the Coles MasterCard Conditions of Use and Coles’ contact details to your email.

      I hope this has helped.

      Cheers,
      May

My Coles credit card was approved on the 17th of Apr 2016 and it is still not yet activated. Can I still get the $100 off once I activate it and buy something though it is already more than 30 days from the approval date?

    • Staff
      May | May 17, 2016

      Hi Maria,

      Thanks for your inquiry.

First, it’s important that you have to activate your Coles credit card before making any transaction. For your convenience, I’ve emailed you the activation process.

Second, new customers who apply and are approved for a Coles Rewards MasterCard or a Coles No Annual Fee MasterCard between 4 April and 31 May 2016 and make a purchase (excludes cash advances) within the first 30 days of the card approval date will receive $100 off a single Coles Supermarket shop. Please note the following:

a.) $100 off will be activated on your flybuys account and available for use within 2 weeks of your first eligible purchase.

b.) $100 off will only be activated on the flybuys card quoted in the application process.

c.) To redeem the $100 off you must scan your flybuys barcode on the back of your new Coles MasterCard and spend a minimum spend of $100.05 after savings and discounts in one transaction at Coles Supermarkets or BI-LO (excluding smoking/tobacco product purchases and all gift cards).

d.) $100 off can only be used once and expires on 30 September 2016.

      I hope this has helped.

      Cheers,
      May

If you want to close your Coles credit card, you’ll need to get in contact with Coles’ customer service team for assistance. But before informing them of your decision, please make sure to settle or fully pay any outstanding balance on your account.

For your convenience, I’ve sent to your email Coles’ contact details.

      I hope this has helped.

I don’t use online banking. I find it difficult to pay each month. We have a coles supermarket where i live but they won’t accept payment
Have to travel 40 k to kmart to make payments

      Hi Jeff,

      Thanks for sharing your concern.

You can pay at any Australia Post Office as long as you bring your statement with you. Please note that there is currently a handling fee of $2.00 for each transaction. Another option to pay in store is over the counter for Target stores. Just bring your Coles MasterCard and your payment to the register.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,
      Debbie

Hi I’m hoping you can clarify something for me. I wish to apply for the current Coles Rewards MasterCard with the current balance transfer 0% interest for 18 months offer. However I wish to know when the annual fee of $49 is payable as it states it is payable after your first purchase. If I was to purely use it to begin with as just the balance transfer and no purchase then once I paid off the balance transfer, use it to make purchases, when is the fee payable? Also is there a fee with this card to do a balance transfer? TIA

    • Staff
      Jonathan | February 4, 2015

Hi Jess, thanks for your inquiry!

Since a balance transfer is not counted as a purchase, the annual fee would take effect on the date of your first purchase.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,

      Jonathan

      Hi Hartono,

      Thanks for your question.

After you’ve activated your card and chosen a PIN you should be able to use it. You might want to get in contact with the Coles customer service team to find out if there is a problem with your account.

I have a balance available which is less than my credit limit? why is this

    • Staff
      Elizabeth | November 24, 2014

      Hi Moo,

      Thanks for your question.

If you’ve made any purchases or any other charges have been made to your credit card account, this would have been deducted from your available credit limit. Until you pay back the balance this amount will remain unavailable.

      I hope this has helped.

      Thanks,

      Elizabeth
