Credit Card Application For New Employees

Information verified correct on September 29th, 2016

Past Vs Present

In the past years, all lenders used to give anybody who had a job a credit card, regardless of the level of experience and other similar factors which are absolutely crucial. And because most of the people accepted them and used the products irresponsibly, the situation has severely changed. Nowadays, the majority of the credit card providers will also take into consideration the years of experience and level of income.

What Conditions Do You Need to Meet?

There are some very important qualities you will need to have before even thinking about applying for a new credit card for your use. First of all, the most common one is related to your employment history. The greater your experience is, the bigger your chances for obtaining the credit card you deserve. Furthermore, you should be aware that this is not the only condition to meet for having your application accepted.

In addition to this first basic condition, you will also need to provide proof related to your past repayments, including mortgage and utility bills. They will all create an impression of the history of the credit or forms of credit you have used in the bank and will always be taken into consideration by the lender you are applying with.

What Happens After You Get Approved?

After your application for the new credit card is approved, do not expect to receive your product right away. You will have to be patient and wait for a couple of days, before everything will be solved. Furthermore, most of the customers are expecting to be granted with a formidable interest rate, combined with the highest credit limit possible and some attractive rewards program.

However, be aware that, especially if you are having your first credit card, most of the lenders will provide you with a very basic type of card, in order to assess your spending habits and be able to monitor every single detail of your usage. Therefore, make sure that you always use the financial product you are provided with wisely.

How to Obtain a More Attractive Card?

If you just obtained your new job and after your application for the credit card was accepted, you will be granted with a very basic offer in most of the situations. Therefore, if you want to receive something more attractive, which also comes with a great number of promotional offers, then this decision is up to you. If you want to eventually achieve this, you will need to be very careful with every aspect related to the usage of the financial product you are granted with.

Hi Bobbi, thanks for your inquiry!

Generally if you meet the minimum income requirements, have a good credit rating and are an Australian resident/ working visa you can be approved for a credit card service. For more information on factors that you can improve to better your application requirements please see this page.

Hi Bobbi, thanks for your inquiry!

It is important to note that the lender/ bank will request for supporting documents and evidence of the stated income, so unless justification can be made of the income it would be best to wait until employment commences.

      Cheers,

      Jonathan

Hi Bobbi, thanks for your response.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, in this case you will be able to provide the lender with your proof of income.
