MasterCard Credit Card Application
Posted March 10th, 2010 and last modified April 21st, 2011If you’re thinking of submitting an online MasterCard Credit Card application, then there are some things you should have handy before you begin. The more information you can supply correctly during the application process, the higher the chances you have of being approved fast.
How to Fill Out an Aussie MasterCard Credit Card Application
An online MasterCard credit card application can mean gaining an approval for your new card in just minutes. However, if you leave sections of your application incomplete or supply incorrect information, you could be risking holding up the process or even risking a rejection.
Before you begin your MasterCard credit card application, you will need to be older than 18 years old at the time of application and you should be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
You will also need to verify that your income is higher than $15,000 per year. Your income amount can be verified by providing pay slips, taxation returns or even your accountant’s contact details if you’re self-employed.
The online application also asks you to enter your full name, so don’t be tempted to use an abbreviation of your full name here. You’ll be required to provide ID to verify your name, usually in the form of your Australian driver’s licence number. Have your driver’s licence handy so you can enter your licence number into the application before you submit it.
You will also be asked to fill in your employer’s address and contact number, or your accountant’s contact details for self-employed people.
Fill in your total list of assets and liabilities in as much detail as you can. This means listing properties, cars and superannuation values as well as the monthly payments on credit cards, loans, mortgages or HECS debts.
What Happens Next?
Once you’ve completed the easy online MasterCard credit card application form and submitted it to the lender, you should receive a response within 60 seconds. This could be an ‘approval in principle’ or it could be a request for further information, or if you’ve filled out something incorrectly, you risk receiving a rejection.
Either way, the response is very quick, so it’s important to get the application correct first time.
Approval Criteria
An approval in principle is usually a conditional approval notice that is subject to you meeting a few standard conditions. Those conditions include the lender running a satisfactory credit check on you through a Credit reporting Agency.
You will also need to provide some ID to verify who you are. This means printing out the ID verification form and taking it to any Australia Post office along with your driver’s licence and passport or birth certificate.
Once these things have been confirmed, you should receive your new card within 5-7 working days.
