Credit Card Deals in Australia

Posted March 10th, 2010

In the super competitive world of finance, there are more financial organisations than ever, all scrambling for your business. Often when looking for a credit card, finding the right deal to suit your financial situation can be very confusing. We are going to have a look at one of the credit card deals available today, and see how good the offer actually is.

St George Vertigo Offer

Best Credit Card Deal

The St. George Vertigo MasterCard is currently offering a special introductory rate for new customers on both purchases and balance transfers, making it one of the best credit card deals in Australia

  • $55 annual fee
  • 12.49% p.a. on purchases
  • 2.99% p.a. for 6 months on balance transfers
  • Cash Advance Rate of 21.24%

The St.George Vertigo MasterCard

The application process for this credit card is made very simple, as you can go through the whole process online. In most cases St.George can give you an immediate decision, meaning no waiting around for a letter to drop through the letterbox.

Just make sure that for each person applying you have:

  • Your driving licence numbers
  • Your net weekly incomes
  • Details of any investments, savings or assets you may have
  • Balances and repayment amounts of any outstanding debts

Once you have all that information to hand it should only take 10-15 minutes to complete the application form, and you will be done. Whenever you fill in a form where credit is involved do be sure to double check what you have typed. Putting a decimal point in the wrong place can place your whole application in jeopardy.

So in comparison to some of the other credit card deals on the market what does St.George have to offer?

One of the best ways to save money on your credit cards is to transfer any existing debt onto a low % deal. That means you  pay a much lower interest rate on the balance, for the duration of the offer.

Right now St.George are offering an impressive 2.99% p.a rate on balance transfers for up to 6 months. On top of that, they give you 2.99% on any purchases you make for the first 6 months of having your card.

They also give a competitive ongoing variable rate of just 11.74% p.a after the deal ends, and 20.49% on any cash advances. This makes them a good choice if you are looking for a card long term.

One thing to note when searching credit card deals is the annual fee charged. Some of these charges can be quite high, however St.George comes in at a wallet friendly $55 per year.

With 7 day a week access to their customer service line, and branches you can visit in person to discuss your circumstances with friendly staff, the St.George Vertigo MasterCard is in our opinion, one of the best credit card deals available.
