Hi Paul. Thanks for your question. According to the Consumer Credit Legal Centre NSW, ‘Credit applications, overdue accounts (over 60 days) and court judgments are held on your file for 5 years from the date of listing.’ You may want to consider using a credit repair service to try and get your file ‘cleaned up’; however, in most instances, you will need to wait the allocated timeframe.

    Hi,
I had a bad mark on my credit file. This has cleared after the 5 year wait time, but I cannot get approved for a credit card. My credit file is clear I was just wondering if you have any suggestions for helping to get my credit rating restarted?

My partner and I were approved for a home loan. But couldnt find a house. Would getting a joint card with my partner help to get my credit rating back up?

    Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks.

Hi Danny. We spoke to a bank about what people with a bad credit history should do when looking to get access to credit. Here’s what they said.

      Thanks for your question.
