Current Credit Card Promotions In Australia
Posted March 19th, 2010Finding credit card promotions in Australia is easy. Finding the one that is best for you and using it effectively takes a little bit of work.
There are many things to consider when you examine credit card offers, make sure you do enough research to get the best on for your situation.
Credit card promotions can be an excellent way to get started with a new credit card. There are all sorts of deals to be had, low or no interest, no annual fees, and double rewards points are just a few of the incentives offered by credit card issuers to woo you into doing business with them. These all can be great deals, but before you give in to any of them you need to understand how the promotions work so that you will pick the one that benefits you the most.
Australian credit card promotions
Low or zero interest on purchases – These deals are good for those who have big expenses coming up that they will need some extra time to pay off. If you have an upcoming holiday, need new appliances, or it is the gift giving season you can make your purchases with your credit card and pay little or no interest on it for a few months. If you pay it off before the offer expires you have borrowed money basically for free. Just make sure you know when those rates expire so you do not miss it and wind up spending money on interest anyway.
Low or no interest on balance transfers – Credit card promotions for balance transfers give you the chance to get out of credit card debt on the cheap. You can move your old balance to the new card and only pay the reduced interest rate on your debt. Be aware that there are usually transaction fees associated with this as well as allocation of payments which means your payments will go to the low interest debt first. If you do a balance transfer it is best not to spend on that card until after the balance transfer is paid in full.
Waived annual fees – Some cards will waive annual fees for the first year you own your card. While this seems like a big savings make sure you know how much you will spend in subsequent years on annual fees because if it is high, you might be better off with a card that has an ongoing low annual fee.
Rewards points – If you plan to use your card often and also use your rewards points these deals can build up your stock quickly. Some allow you to earn extra points the first few months you own a specific card. Just remember that big point earning cards usually come with big annual fees. You will have to spend significantly to earn enough points to make it worthwhile.
Not all credit card promotions are created equal. Some deals really are good whilst others only seem good on paper. Do a lot of good research and comparisons to find the best card for your personal finances. When you find the perfect card don’t hesitate to apply as these promotions do not stick around forever.
