Diners Club is one of the oldest credit-based card brands in the world, with its first card launched way back in 1950s New York. In Australia, Citi has issued Diners Club accounts with both a Diners Club card and a World Mastercard – so you can use it in more places.

Diners Club closing down in Australia

Types of cards from Diners Club

  • Diners Club Rewards charge cards

The Diners Club Card earns Diners Club Rewards Points per $1 on eligible purchases and offers complimentary insurance for international travel and eligible shopping. You can redeem your points for rewards including travel, cashback, digital gift cards and point transfers to loyalty programs including Velocity Frequent Flyer, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and IHG Rewards Club.

As a charge card, you don't pay interest but do need to pay the total account balance by the due date on each statement. But Diners Club cards have limited acceptance and potentially high surcharges in Australia, so you may want to get an account that also comes with a World Mastercard.

Both of these accounts also offer 1 additional Qantas Point per $1 for eligible spending with Qantas.

Can I use Discover card wherever Diners club card is accepted at airport lounges worldwide.

To use the lounge facility, must I buy the airline ticket with discover card? Or

I can use the lounge facility because I have discover card.

Hi Govindram. Thanks for your question. You don’t need to be flying on a specific flight in order to take advantage of the complimentary lounge access, you only need to have your card on you to get access to the lounges. I hope this helps. Jacob.
