Thinking About What You Need

You really need to think about how you want to spend your points. Are you preferably looking for a card that will let you spend the points wherever you want? Or are you a fan of a particular airline you like to fly with?

Some direct earn frequent flyer credit cards will earn you points that can only be used at specific airlines and with other specific companies. This is therefore something that you need to be aware of before you apply for a card.

There are obvious advantages to being able to spend your points wherever you like, however there are also a few disadvantages too. The first negative point is the fact that you may not get a good rate from some companies. Some airlines and partners may offer you less than what other companies will.

For example, you may be entitled to $1 reward for every 100 points that you build up with one company, yet another may give you a $1 reward after just 50 points have been accumulated. Therefore you should look into what the different partners would offer you before you sign up with a flexible reward plan.

Enjoying Convenience

You may find that direct earn cards are more convenient than transferable cards too. This is because you don’t have to manually transfer the points over. If for example you use a credit card that is directly linked to the Qantas reward scheme, you can enter your Qantas reward number into the form when you register with the company. This makes sure that all of your points are added up directly as you earn them.

When you use a transferable credit card there is also sometimes a minimum balance needed before you can transfer them into reward points. There could also be a slight delay in the amount of time that it takes for the money to reach your account once they have been transferred.

Overall, you really need to compare as many different direct earn credit cards as you can before you make a decision. Some are more convenient than others, and some will offer you a higher point reward for every $1 spent. Why not take a look at the wide range of frequent flyer credit cards today to see what your options are?

Whichever card you end up choosing one thing is for certain, direct earn reward cards are a whole lot easier than any of the manual cards on the market!
