Posted August 19th, 2010 and last modified November 21st, 2011

The Star Alliance is the biggest alliance of many airlines worldwide. Singapore Airlines is part of this alliance and when you become a member of their program you can use your Krisflyer Points with any of the other airlines in the alliance.

Earn more KrisFlyer points for Singapore Airlines

Krisflyer Points can be earned by anyone that is more than two years old. Of course, this is subject to the laws of the country where you reside. When you fly with Singapore Airlines you will earn points that can be redeemed for valuable rewards. You will also earn points when you fly with any of the partners in the Star Alliance group.

The best way to earn more points in the program is to start spending your money with partners in the program. These include car rental companies, telecommunications companies, hotels and many other merchants. It is simply a matter of finding out which businesses will give you points that are redeemable for rewards and start shopping there. You’ll probably find that that you are already shopping with many of the merchants already.

Credit cards

Another great way to earn extra KrisFlyer Points is to get a credit card that is linked up to the program. Many banks offer these credit cards and when you first apply for one of them you may be offered a sign-up bonus as a gift. This is a way of thanking you for getting the card.

You will earn points for every dollar you spend on your card that is linked up with this program. Points can really add up quickly when you start using your card to make your purchases.

Other merchants

You can also earn points for Singapore Airlines by doing business with the following merchants.

  • Hong Leong Finance

Car rentals and hotels

Singapore Airlines is affiliated with many different hotels such as Taj, Hilton, Okura, Marriott and Hyatt. Every hotel will give you a different amount of points for each stay. Many of them will give you 500 points every time you stay with them. If you need to rent a car you can use Hertz or Avis to collect points. You will receive between 250 and 500 points whenever you rent a car using these companies.

Airline Miles

Any time you fly with Singapore Airlines you will be rewarded with Kris Flyer Points. You will also receive points whenever you choose an airline from the Star Alliance group. Any of these carriers offer punctuality, ease and hospitality on all of their flights.

You will be given an equal amount of points for every mile you fly. If you fly 2000 miles you will get 2000 KrisFlyer Points. If you fly business class you will get an extra 25% of the flown miles and you will receive 150% of the flown miles for flying first class. When you choose Singapore Airlines Suites as your carrier of choice you will receive 300% of the flown miles in KrisFlyer points. If you fly 2000 miles you will receive 6000 points.

Redeeming your points

You can redeem your KrisFlyer Points very easily for great rewards such as free flights and free upgrades on any airlines that are partnered with Star Alliance, including Silk Air and Singapore Airlines. Points can be redeemed online 24/7 by simply logging into your account and clicking on the button to redeem a booking. To make an upgrade you would click on the button for your bookings.
