This means that Skywards members get placed at the top of the waiting list for available seats on flights. That’s a privilege offered by few other airlines. Not surprisingly it pays to know how to earn Skywards Miles. Those who learn how to accumulate more Skywards Miles have access to some of the best opportunities in frequent flyer points today.

Earning Skywards Miles on Emirate Airlines

A Skywards card holder will be able to earn Skyward Miles whenever he or she flies on Emirates Airlines.

The best way to earn Skywards Miles is purchase Skywards Flex tickets on Emirates Airlines. Skywards Flex tickets are a little more expensive but they do pay off for miles card holders.

Those who buy Flex tickets earn 100% of the Miles offered on that particular flight. Those who buy Skywards Savers tickets will save some money on the flight, but they only earn 50% of the miles.

Another great way to earn Skywards Miles is to fly first class when you fly on Emirates Airlines. Those who fly first class can earn 150% of the bonus miles. Flying business class on Emirates can also help a person earn miles. Those who fly business class will earn 75% of the Skywards Miles.

Even if you can’t fly on Emirates you can gain some Skywards Miles by flying on an Emirates partner company. Those who fly on Continental Airlines, Japan Airlines, South African Airways Korean Air, United Airlines will earn 1 Skywards mile for every mile flown on those lines if they use the Skywards card to purchase the tickets.

Earning Skywards Miles on the Ground

The really good thing about Skywards Miles is that you can earn them on the ground as well as in the air. You can earn up to 500 Skywards miles every time you stay at hotel linked to the Skywards program.

You can also earn one Skywards mile per US dollar spent at certain other hotels. A list of the hotels in this program is available at the Emirates website.

It is also possible to earn miles at some rental car companies. Dollar, Budget, Hertz and Thrifty all have different rewards available. You’ll have to ask the rental car company for details of the offer.

You can even earn miles by applying for credit cards at certain banks including Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Standard Commercial Bank and Citibank. The rate of miles earned can be increased by applying for the Citibank Emirates credit card.

Skywards Miles can also be accrued through Danat Dubai Cruises, Arabian Adventures, Emax and Language Direct. Details of these rewards are available at the Emirates Airlines website.
