Have An Easier Christmas With A 0% Purchase Credit Card
A 0% purchase credit card is absolutely the best way to do your Christmas spending. While it is know as the most wonderful time of the year it is also the most expensive time of the year.
Between gifts, decorations, food, parties, and trips it can feel like you are just throwing money into the wind. for most people this means spending on credit cards just to get through, the problem with that is incurring interest charges that add even more cost to your already stretched budget.
This is where a 0% purchase credit card can really come in handy. These cards offer no interest on purchases for a set amount of time, giving you time to save and pay off the card before accruing interest. You will still have to make sure you do not spend more then you can afford but at least you will not have to tack on interest to the already expensive Christmas season.<
Choosing a 0% purchase credit card:
- Check around for different deals. There are all sorts of options when it comes to a 0% purchase credit card. You will want the one that offers you the longest promotional period, giving you the most amount of time to pay back the debt.
- Apply for your card early. You are not the only one who will apply for a 0% purchase credit card for Christmas. There might be lags in processing due to the high volume of applications the credit card company receives. You should evaluate your card options and make a choice as soon as possible to avoid missing the boat on your interest free spending.
- Read the fine print. Just because your card offers you 0% interest on purchases does not mean that other charges will also be free of interest. Cash advances and balance transfers should be avoided as they will not only acquire interest but they will not be repaid until the interest free purchases have been paid off. Credit card companies put all of your money toward the cheapest debt first, increasing their profits but costing you more in the process.
- Make sure you do not miss your monthly payments. In almost all cases introductory offers are dependent upon your paying your bill on time. Miss or make a late payments and the credit card company will drop you from the programme and you will be hit with interest and usually a fee for the missed payment. Avoid this completely by setting up a direct draft from your chequeing account to the credit company each month
Christmas spending does not have to break the bank if you use a 0% purchase credit card. You still have to stick to a budget but you will not have to include excessive charges for interest in it. That means you are able to spend a little more on gifts and special foods for the people you love during the season of giving.
