GEM Visa Card
The GEM Visa card allows for many ways to save money on interest and purchases. If you purchase totals more then $250 you get 6 months interest free. For any other purchases you could be eligible for up to 55 days interest free too. There is also the added bonus of potentially receiving up to 2 years interest free on selected transactions.
The 6 months interest free on purchases over $250 happens on every purchase you make, and is a great way of avoiding extra interest in that time. Just be careful to remember to make the repayments on time to avoid any hidden fees, charges or interest.

Eco MasterCard
For the environmentally conscious this a great reward card. You can earn reward points worth 1c for every dollar spent on the card. As part of the reward program you can choose between two options of redeeming your reward points:
- Half in cash-back (crediting your card account) and half in carbon offsets (bought to reduce your carbon footprint).
- Full amount in carbon offsets – this way you make the most contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and finding alternative, renewable sources of energy which are cleaner for the environment than petroleum.
28 Degrees MasterCard
A card provided only through the post or online, it features no annual fees. Unlike most other credit cards which charge a much higher interest on cash withdrawals the 28 Degrees MasterCard charges the same interest rate for purchases and cash advances. Like other cards however, the interest is applied from the date of cash withdrawal, i.e., interest free period is only available for purchases.
GE Money Low Rate MasterCard
Featuring low interest rates on purchases, this card has an annual fee of $58 , and can include nine other cardholders in the same account. Other benefits include 55 days interest free on purchases, and a low balance transfer rate for 6 months.
GE Money MasterCard
Perfect for individuals with moderate earning levels, this card has low credit limits and annual fees.
GO MasterCard
This card provides extended financing options for large ticket purchases such as household white goods.
The range of GE Money credit cards is quite broad, and they provide some features such as extended financing which is found nowhere else.
GE Money have a unique set of credit cards. If utilized correctly, they can be fairly beneficial and cheap. However as they all feature very high interest rates, you’ll need to manage them very carefully in order to avoid getting stung.
62 interest free days can be a curse as much as a blessing, if you miss the grace period you’ll be hit instantly with a high rate of interest accumulation.
GE Money Eco MasterCard Environmental Benefit Review
The GE Money eco MasterCard is the 1st credit card in Australia with a dedicated program that purchases carbon offsets on behalf of cardholders via Origin’s Carbon Reduction Scheme. These contributions help fund projects such as reforestation, renewable energy, water and wastewater treatment, land and habitat conservation, energy efficiency and other environmental initiatives that meet the strict standards.

I currently have a Coles platinum master card but i would like a similar one with no foreign transaction fees as well as no annual fee as I have at present.

Hi Sylvia. Thanks for your question. There are a couple of cards that currently don’t charge a cross currency conversion fee. The Aussie Low Rate Platinum Card, the 28 Degrees MasterCard and the Bankwest Platinum range of cards. The 28 Degrees MasterCard is offered by GE Money. The 28 Degrees MasterCard and the Bankwest Zero Platinum card have no foreign currency conversion fee and no annual fee – which fits your listed requirements. Hi. I’m looking for a credit card with an interest free period for 6 to 9 months with low to non-yearly annual fee and a low interest pay off rate that I can use as a visa. Am I asking to much?
