Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about HSBC balance transfer cards, so that you can be certain you are making the right choice.
Can I get a promotional balance transfer rate?
This special rate is given to new customers at HSBC. It is limited to the first request for a balance transfer from other credit or store cards.
Can I transfer the entire balance from my other store or credit cards?
You can transfer any amount from an Australian store or credit card up to the credit limit that is available on your new HSBC balance transfer card. You will be assessed to determine the amount of your credit limit and this may or may not be the limit that you had originally asked for. There is a minimum amount that you can transfer, and this is set at $500. You are, however, allowed to make an unlimited amount of transfers.
How long will it take?
When your card has been approved, it may take up to 14 days for the balance transfer to be completed by HSBC.
How long is the interest-free period?
This date depends on which credit card you are applying for.
- Up to 45 days of interest free purchasing – HSBC Premier Card
- Up to 45 days of interest free purchasing – HSBC Platinum Card
- Up to 45 days of interest free purchasing – HSBC Gold Card
- Up to 45 days of interest free purchasing – HSBC Classic Card
- Up to 55 days of interest free purchasing – HSBC Card
