IMB Credit Cards
As of September 2023, IMB credit cards are no longer available for new applications.
IMB has a history dating back to 1880, when it was established as a building society in the Illawarra region of NSW. It now has branches across Sydney, the NSW South Coast, the ACT and Melbourne, as well as digital banking options.
It previously offered a low interest credit card and a platinum rewards credit card, issued by Card Services. But as of September 2023, these cards are not available for new applications. Types of credit cards from IMB
Low rate credit cards
The IMB Low Rate Mastercard has a 12.99% p.a. interest rate for purchases, which is similar to other low rate credit cards. It also offers interest-free days on purchases when you pay your balance in full by the due date on each statement, as well as complimentary purchase insurance cover and a guaranteed pricing scheme for eligible purchases. Outside of any promotions, it has a $75 annual fee that's on par with other, similar cards.
Platinum credit cards
The IMB Platinum Rewards Mastercard earns 1 rewards point per $1 on eligible spending, which you can redeem for gift cards, frequent flyer point transfers and other rewards through the Card Services Rewards Program.
Other perks include complimentary international travel insurance, interstate flight inconvenience insurance when you're flying in Australia and a platinum concierge service. It has a $129 p.a. annual fee, which could be waived if you also have an IMB home loan.

Complimentary insurances
Both IMB credit cards offer complimentary purchase cover insurance and a guaranteed pricing scheme for eligible items you buy. The IMB Platinum Rewards Mastercard also includes complimentary international travel insurance and interstate flight inconvenience insurance.
Discounted and waived annual fees
The Low Rate Mastercard comes with a discounted first-year annual fee of $37. If you are a home loan customer, you can also enquire in-branch about the no fee credit card offer if you have the Platinum Rewards Mastercard.
Security
IMB credit cards offer 24/7 fraud monitoring through Fraudshield. Mastercard Zero Liability protection also helps keep your money safe if your card is used for fraud or unauthorised transactions.
Banking
IMB offers internet and a mobile app. You can also call 133 462 to bank over the phone, or visit one if its branches – with a search tool on its website.
Mastercard benefits and offers
IMB credit cards can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted, including for contactless payments. You also get access to exclusive shopping, dining, travel and experience offers through Mastercard Priceless.
Applying for an IMB credit card
You can apply for an IMB credit card online in around 15 minutes. Before you apply, make sure you meet the following eligibility criteria and have all the documents and details you'll need to complete the application.
Eligibility criteria
- Age. You must be at least 18 years of age.
- Australian residency. You must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia.
- Minimum income. To apply for the IMB Low Rate Mastercard, you need a minimum income of per year. For the IMB Platinum Rewards Mastercard, you need a minimum income of to apply.
Documents and details
- Personal. This includes your name, date of birth, residential address and contact information. You also need a valid form of ID, such as your Australian driver's licence or Medicare card details.
- Employment. This includes your occupation, employer’s name and employer’s contact details.
- Income and expenses. This covers your regular income and other assets, such as savings or investments. It also covers expenses including rent or mortgage payments, groceries, bills and other essentials – as well as existing loans, credit cards, store cards and other debts.

Good day i just start work at a new call centre in durban in south africa. And this company called phenomenon with simply talk sa is selling the same IMB mastercard debit card. Are u aware that they say that IMB is back up by standard bank card division? I went to my local standard bank and they have not heard of IMB. so i don’t know if the company is a scam or not. Please find out if south africa is offering IMB? thanks

IMB is a building society in Australia, it’s very unlikely that they will be offering products in South Africa.

Can I access my statement online?

IMB offer online banking services. You can use IMB Internet Banking to receive your credit card statements online. You will need to register for Internet Banking before you can receive online statements.
