Posted October 24th, 2011If you find yourself flying in and around Japan quite a lot then the JAL Frequent Flyer Scheme could be perfect for you. The great thing about this program is the fact it works alongside a great number of partners. This means that earning points has never been easier. The JAL group is a member of the Oneworld Alliance which also provides you with a lot more choices when it comes to earning points.
All About The JAL Airline
In 1951, the JAL airline was born. It then went on to become the national airline of Japan in 1953. It wasn’t until 1987 that JAL was privatised. It merged together with Japan Air System and now combined with that company, the airline is known as the sixth largest airline in the world.
The Japan Air System is Japan’s third largest airline. You can fly to 220 different places and there are 279 aircraft owned by the company.
There are four different hubs for JAL airlines situated around Japan. Even if you don’t travel to Japan very often, it’s still possible to earn points if you are travelling with the airline to other worldwide destinations.
The Benefits And Features Of The JAL Mileage Bank
One of the main things that you should look at when choosing a frequent flyers program is what’s in it for you? There’s different levels of membership with the basic one being the JAL Mileage Bank. Only individuals can benefit from this basic level of membership.
You earn points by travelling with JAL, spending with the Oneworld partners, or at any of the companies retail and travel partners.
There’s also a JAL Family Club Membership which both individuals and families can join. While it offers virtually the same benefits as the JAL Mileage Bank, it also enables you to have more than one person assigned to the account. This means that you’re more likely to earn points as more than one person is able to earn them.
You can also earn points if you have the JAL card. The card comes with a credit card which is affiliated with MasterCard, VISA, Diners Club International and JCB. You don’t have to just spend money on flights to earn points with the card. You’ll earn points when you use the card for any purchase. You’ll also be entitled to benefit from discounted flight. Currently here’s a 10% discount for all JAL cardholders.
Am I Eligible?
Most people are eligible for at least one tier of the JAL rewards programs. The JAL Mileage Bank is basically open to anybody no matter how old they are or where they reside. The higher levels of the rewards program will have an annual fee. The higher up the tier you go, the more the annual fee will be.
This is a fantastic frequent flyer rewards program if you do travel in and around Japan quite frequently. Remember that the JAL Mileage Bank is the most basic level available. You can find out more by visiting the JAL Mileage Bank website.
