Information verified correct on October 1st, 2016

As a low rates airline, Jetstar knows of the importance to offer value for money to its customers. In a bid to get into the low rate credit card market Jetstar has today announced Australia’s lowest low interest rate credit card with travel rewards, the Jetstar MasterCard.

The Jetstar MasterCard is currently one of the most competitive low rate card on the Australian market thanks to the travel rewards you get.

Jetstar Chief Executive Officer Bruce Buchanan is excited about the new addition to the low rate credit card market and said: “We aim to do for credit cards what Jetstar did for low fares airline travel in Australia when we launched back in 2004 – to present consumers a choice with real benefits and with a low every day rate of 14.99% p.a.”

“As an extension of the low fares the Jetstar brand is renowned for, the Jetstar MasterCard will reward users with not only low rates, but also a really simple and valuable rewards program to earn Jetstar Dollars.”

Unique reward program with the Jetstar credit card:

With the unique travel rewards program of the Jetstar MasterCard you can accrue ‘Jetstar Dollars’ whenever you use your plastic. Once you’ve collected a bunch of these you can redeem them for a Jetstar Flight Voucher. These vouchers can be used to pay for and travel with Jetstar to over 50 destinations across the Jetstar network.

Mr. Buchanana said: “Jetstar not only represents low fares, good times, but now also low rates and good times with the Jetstar MasterCard.”

Jetstar MasterCard features:

For every dollar spent on the Jetstar MasterCard you accrue one cent in Jetstar Dollars. If you want more reward for your money spent then look to the Jetstar Platinum MasterCard where you earn two cents for every dollar spent.

When you are ready to redeem your vouchers you can use them within three months to book and six months to travel from the vouchers issue date.

“By keeping our rewards simple, and making it easy for customers to redeem and use their Jetstar Flight Vouchers, customers can not only make big savings on interest and fees, but really big savings on their holidays by putting every day credit purchases on their Jetstar MasterCard,” Mr Buchanan said.

You can also purchase a portion of the fare if your account doesn’t contain enough points to pay for a full flight.

Once you accrue 100 Jetstar Dollars your Flight Voucher will automatically be issued to you.

Account Holders may request to redeem their Jetstar Dollars for Flight Vouchers in minimum increments of $25.

MasterCard Australian Country Manager Andrew Cartwright said the Jetstar MasterCard is an excellent addition to the suite of MasterCard programs available to Australians.

Other features of the Jetstar MasterCard include:

  • 0% p.a. for 14 months on balance transfers
  • Low $29 p.a. annual fee for the first year ($59 p.a. thereafter) annual fee
  • Up to 55 days interest-free
  • No card payment fees for flights on Jetstar.com
  • Book a Jetstar flight with your Jetstar Flight Voucher on any domestic or international flight on the Jetstar network within three months for travel within six months, both from the date of issue of the Flight Voucher
  • Jetstar Flight Vouchers are automatically emailed directly to Account Holders, meaning you’ll never have to chase rewards, and can be requested by Account Holders in minimum increments of $25

Jetstar is currently negotiating with Qantas Frequent Flyer to introduce Qantas Frequent Flyer points as a reward option for account holders. The new addition will most likely go live in the first half of next year.
