Jetstar MasterCard Benefits

Posted February 4th, 2010 and last modified February 13th, 2013

Learn how the Jetstar MasterCard can save you money on your regular purchases, and significantly reduce the cost of your flights.

The Jetstar MasterCard is a great way to keep your interest charges to an absolute minimum and also accrue points towards Jetstar flights. These are the main advantages of owning a Jetstar MasterCard. See our other rewards credit cards.

Very low regular rate of interest:

The Jetstar MasterCard offers one of the lowest regular rates of interest on purchases for a rewards credit card at just 13.99% p.a.

2.99% p.a. for 9 months on balance transfers:

You could save hundreds of dollars in interest by consolidating all your credit cards onto your Jetstar MasterCard, because there is a balance transfer offer allowing you to pay 2.99% p.a. for 9 months from the date of approval. By transferring the balance to your Jetstar MasterCard, you are able to divert that little bit extra towards paying off your debt sooner, rather than paying off interest.

Jetstar Dollars:

This Jetstar credit card awards the customer with 1 cent in Jetstar Dollars for every dollar spent on the credit card. This means you can put your everyday shopping on your card and build towards a flight more quickly. When you’ve accrued 100 Jetstar Dollars, Jetstar will automatically send you a $100 Jetstar Flight Voucher direct to your email inbox. Or if you want to redeem your Jetstar Dollars earlier, you can redeem them in increments of 25 Jetstar Dollars. The reward rate is double with the Jetstar Platinum MasterCard, which accrues 2 cents of Jetstar Dollars for every dollar spent. Flight must be booked with three months of receiving your voucher, and taken within six months. Domestic or international destinations are on offer, and your vouchers can be used as part or full payment for the flights.

Avoid card payment fees:

Whereas booking flights with a credit card will normally attract transaction fees, you can avoid these when you pay for your Jetstar flights online or through Jetstar telephone reservations with your Jetstar MasterCard. Compared to paying with other credit cards, this can amount to a saving of $24 for a family of four on every return domestic flight, and $40 on every return international flight.

Low annual fee:

13.99% p.a. is a very low annual fee for a rewards credit card. If you are wanting to opt for the Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards option, an annual fee of $30 applies. If you apply for the Jetstar Platinum MasterCard, this fee is waived.

55 days interest-free:

The Jetstar MasterCard offers up to 55 days interest-free on purchases, allowing the customer to pay no interest at all if they always pay off their balance in full and on time every month.

MasterCard acceptance:

Having a Jetstar credit card with a MasterCard logo ensures acceptance at over 29 million merchant locations in over 210 countries, and at over 1.5 million ATMs.

MasterCard Applause:

MasterCard Applause is an exclusive service that gives the customer access to some of the biggest names and events in entertainment and sport. The Jetstar MasterCard gives you the ability to take advantage of pre-sale periods for some of the biggest concerts and live events in Australia.
