Did you know that one in nine women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 85?  That’s not quoted here to make you feel bad, but it’s something that we should all be aware of.  Who doesn’t at least know someone who knows someone who is affected by breast cancer?  That’s why the McGrath Foundation, supporting women win breast cancer, is such an important foundation in Australia.

Therefore, it’s fantastic that there is now a McGrath Pink Visa credit card available which allows any cardholder to support the McGrath Foundation automatically.  Half of the yearly card fee is donated every year to the McGrath Foundation for every year which you hold the card.

Low rates

Noteworthy are the low rates which McGrath Pink Visa offers to its customers.  You can transfer your existing credit card debt to this card for the low rate of 3.99% p.a. for 6 months (reverts to 8.99% p.a.) as well as enjoying the same low rates on purchases and any cash advances which you’ll be making.  This is one of the lowest ongoing rates in Australia.

Another benefit of the McGrath Pink Visa is that you can apply for an additional card at no extra cost – ideal for your spouse or children.  The up to 55 days “interest free on purchases” offer means that with a bit of budgeting you can get yourself a short-term loan for no cost – fantastic for those larger purchases.

The McGrath Pink Visa Card allows you the option of choosing from credit limit ceilings of between $1,000 and $15,000.  The minimum (as with most cards) is $1,000 and you are always able to change between limit amounts whenever you desire to do so.

The Visa Brand gives you so many benefits

Using a Visa card allows you to use your card worldwide.  Sure, there are plenty of cards out there which offer this and that benefit but do they offer worldwide acceptance?  No – only Visa and Mastercard are universally accepted by merchants, ATMs and banks.

Visa safe-shopping benefit is quietly working in the background for your financial safety.  Not only this, but the super-low interest rates across the board for cash advances, purchases and balance transfers help you and many others like you around the world to get ahead.  Not many credit cards out there offer such a generous interest rate on cash advances.  As you may be aware, the ability to obtain a cash advance may be a lifesaver for you and your family in the case of a crisis or emergency.  With a credit card that allows cash advances, all you need to do is simply withdraw funds from your credit card and you’re set for any kind of emergency that may crop up.

The convenient thing with a Visa card is that you are not going to get stuck being unable to pay for essentials.  Many people sign up for a credit card because they do not want to get caught out by an extra-large bill or unexpected expense such as a car repair and be unable to put food on the table one week.  But a Visa card offers a lot more than just emergency protection.

Furthermore, the McGrath Pink Visa Card gives you the opportunity to be a “pink card holder” and advertise the cause of breast cancer awareness and support, wherever you go.  Swiping your pink card will catch people’s eye and prompt them to ask you, “Is that a breast cancer supporter’s card?” to which, of course, you will be able to say “yes!”.  Many people’s lives have been inadvertently touched by breast cancer and you never know when you might have the opportunity to help someone on their journey by sharing a tale or two about coping with and surviving breast cancer.  What more could you possibly ask from a credit card that it will even give you more opportunities for conversation?

i applied and was successful in getting the mcgrath pink visa credit card. unfortunately my daughter was not successful in her application because she pays rent and does not own her own home, yet she is employed fulltime, earns a better income than i do, has a good credit rating by paying off a personal loan, always pays her bills on time and has never been declared bankrupt. i don’t understand the discrimination with renters and owners. do renters not have the right to acquire a credit card with such a low interest rate? where is the justice and the logic in that???

      Hi Helen,

      Thanks for your question.

Card issuers use a variety of criteria to determine someone’s eligibility for a credit card, including income, credit history, etc. While the fact that you own your own home may have helped your application, lender’s do not rely solely on whether you rent or own to determine eligibility. McGrath would likely have looked at the amount your daughter earns, her assets, and the amount of liabilities (ie. personal loan and any other credit accounts) that she has to determine her eligibility.

      I hope this has helped.
