Australian MySpace users can rejoice with the announcement of the MySpace Recharge Card, a reloadable prepaid Visa card issued by ANZ Australia. As the first credit card of its kind designed for users of social networking sites, the MySpace Visa is convenient, safe and simple to use for your online and offline shopping needs.

What is MySpace ANZ Recharge Visa and how does it work?

The MySpace ANZ Recharge Visa card is a reloadable pre-paid Visa card that is funded with your money – a minimum of $50 and up to $1,000.

  • You can stay in control of your money while keeping it safe. The card is PIN protected.
  • Buy for online and offline purchases with peace of mind knowing your card has a limit, whatever you decide to pre-load onto the card. Use your card on some 30 million worldwide locations, wherever preloaded cards are accepted.
  • Withdraw cash at ATMs with Visa logos.
  • You don’t need to be an existing ANZ customer to get accepted for a MySpace Recharge Card.
  • Reload your card with cash whenever you need to. Ideal for a trip overseas because instead of carrying cash in your pocket you can use your card safely.
  • Be eligible for recharge rewards from ANZ’s partners in real time, no need to accumulate points first. As a matter of fact, if you sign up for the card during September you are given the chance to win concert ticket for Britney Spear’s Circus tour in Australia this year.

Under 18s a huge target market for the MySpace Recharge Card:

One major motivation to launch this card was to provide the under 18s market with a safe option to buy stuff online. If you are between the ages of 13 and 18 you can apply for the MySpace ANZ Visa. This is great news because it gives parents peace of mind knowing their kids are using a responsible way to spend money.

It helps them to be more responsible in money management and chances are that by handling a reloadable pre-paid Visa well they will become more money-savvy consumers when they are older, knowing the money will have to be earned first (or loaded in this case) to be spent.

ANZ has done considerable research into the need to provide a safe solution to teenagers who are looking to buy things online and don’t own a credit card or have access to a credit card and the MySpace ANZ Recharge Visa is the result, offering the convenience and freedom for teens to do their own online shopping.

Spokesperson for ANZ John Harries said: “This card aims to deliver this in a responsible manner because it is pre-loaded and uses people’s own money.”

“You don’t have to be an ANZ customer to take advantage of this handy new card because the MySpace Recharge card is not linked to a deposit account.”

Nick Love a spokesman for MySpace said: “The MySpace Recharge prepaid Visa card is unique in that it allows under-18s and people that own a credit card the freedom to spend their own money on items such as concert tickets and clothes, at millions of online and retail stores worldwide. These options are only set to grow with the upcoming launch of a range of ecommerce services in the new MySpace music service.”

Charges and fees:

The first time you load value (money) onto your card you will be deducted $5.95 as an issue fee. If you top up your card balance online with BPAY you pay $2 for the reload. If you reload through a participating offline ANZ Merchant it will cost you $3.45.

There are more associated fees with your MySpace reloadable Visa card.

Portability and convenience – the two major attributes of the new MySpace ANZ Recharge Card:

This card has certainly crossed some new boundaries as it allowing flexibility and freedom for Australian teens. It is the ideal solution for teenagers, holidays, controlling your spending urges and managing debt. The MySpace ANZ Recharge Card has only just landed on our shores.
