Qantas Frequent Flyer points earned with NAB Qantas Card

Every NAB Qantas Card account comes with two cards, a NAB Qantas American Express card and a NAB Qantas MasterCard. The Amex card provides more points per dollar spent, while the MasterCard is accepted at more locations and provides shopping convenience. You can also add an additional cardholder to your account at no extra cost. Combining these two cards gives you a faster rate of accumulating points, which can be redeemed for a wide array of rewards options. Here is a breakdown of how you can receive Qantas Frequent Flyer points through the combined spend of these cards:

  • First $1000 of the Month: Amex card gives you 1 point per dollar spent, the MasterCard gives $0.5
  • Next $2000: Amex card gives $0.5 per dollar spent, the MasterCard gives $0.25
  • 1 bonus point per dollar spent on eligible Qantas products (such as flights)
  • No further points after monthly spend of $3000
  • Points allocated first on the American Express card purchases, then the MasterCard purchases

Other Features of the NAB Qantas Card

Aside from a very comprehensive Qantas Frequent Flyer reward program, this card also features:

  • Up to 44 Interest free days on purchases
  • A standard interest rate of 20.24% p.a.
  • $65 annual fee
  • Balance transfer from non-NAB cards at 4.99% p.a. for 6 months
  • Complimentary Purchase Protection Insurance
  • Wide range of rewards partners
  • All the convenience of banking with NAB (such as Internet Banking, Telephone Banking, extra cardholder benefits, secure online shopping with MasterCard SecureCode, 24/7 Emergency travel assistance etc.)

As you can see, the NAB Qantas Card brings some extraordinary travel benefits along with all the superb features of credit cards that we’ve come to expect from NAB. The only drawback is the capped reward earnings after the first $3000 combined spend on the cards, which means that if you are a heavy spender who regularly spends more than three or four thousand dollars per month with your credit card, you might feel that you aren’t earning enough rewards points. For most other cardholders who do not spend that much monthly, this capped feature might even be beneficial, ensuring you do not overspend in chasing more airline points.

Overall the NAB Qantas Card presents some balanced credit card features, and offers accelerated Qantas Frequent Flyer points earning opportunities. If you’d like to treat yourself to some bonus air travel benefits just for spending what you normally would with a credit card, apply for the NAB Qantas Card now and start enjoying the rewards.
