NAB Qantas Rewards Premium overview
The rewards program
This card has a generous rewards program that allows customers to accumulate unlimited frequent flyer miles. Because the NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card issues two credit cards, one being an American Express and the other being the Visa card, customers can acquire rewards points on two levels. The American Express card rewards customers with 1.5 points for every dollar spent and the VISA card 2 points for every $3 spent. There is no cap for accumulating rewards points so this means that frequent travellers or business accounts can quickly build up plenty of free flights.
The Two Credit Card Account
The NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card offers their customers a dual card option, but with only one monthly statement. This gives business travellers and customers with larger monthly budgets the ability to utilise either card that suits their need and only have to deal with one statement. The American Express card does not accrue any interest charges if the balance is paid in full each month; whereas the VISA card has its fixed interest rate for purchases.
Overall card reliability
The card under review has top of the line overall benefits, competitive rates, and a world class rewards program. The American Express card gives customers 1.5 points for every dollar spent and the Visa card gives 2 points for every $3 spent. The world class customer service and additional card benefits such as extended warranty coverage, travellers insurance, and many other options makes the NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card a strong platinum card offering in the Australian credit card marketplace.

I’m moving to Australia on a 4 year work Visa in 3 weeks. I am looking for the best rewards credit card available to me. I will make more than $50000 a year and have excellent credit in the US. However, most Australian credit cards require permanent residency. I’ll be an excellent customer for a Credit Card Company if they’ll let me. Please help!

is there a limit to number of FF points that can be accumulated in 1 year
Hi Richard. Thanks for your question. The American Express card rewards customers with 1.5 points for every dollar spent and the VISA card 2 points for every $3 spent. There is no cap for accumulating rewards points so this means that frequent travellers or business accounts can quickly build up plenty of free flights. Hope this helps.
Is there a minimum annual salary for this card and if so how much
?
Hi Adam. Thanks for your question. The minimum income requirement for this card is $65,000 p.a. before tax. Cheers.
I do not understand how the VISA interest charge is worked out. You state that: ‘The American Express card does not acquire any interest if the balance is paid in full each month; whereas the VISA card has its fixed interest rate for purchases.’
What happens if the full balance is paid every month from the VISA card’s purchases? Surely this cannot attract interest as well?
Hi Ash. The two cards are linked to the one account and have a shared annual percentage purchase and cash advance rate. Cardholders are given two cards so they have the option of using the card that’s going to earn them the most points on any given purchase. Thanks for your question.
Hi,
I notice that whenever I am in a store the charge to use American Express cards is between $4.00 to $7.00 –does this apply to the NAB/QANAS /AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD ???—Jim
Hi Jim. Thanks for your question. Typically American Express credit cards have a higher merchant surcharge fee than Visa and MasterCard, retailers pass this charge onto the customer. Cheers.
Hi,
We are retired—-notice the NAB/QANTAS/AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD has a minimum income level of $65,000.00—-as we already have an NAB Platinum, with a limit of $10,000.00 and could go much higher, as our financial situation is solid, could we roll the card over to Qantas/NAB/AMERICAN EXPRESS —??? JIM
Hi Jim. Thanks for your question. If you meet the eligibility requirements, there’s no problem transferring between two NAB credit cards; however, you will not be eligible for the balance transfer promotional rate of interest. Cheers.
If I pay my tax with this card is there a limit on the number of pints I can get.
Hi Michael. Points earning is not capped. Thanks for your question.
can the minimum amount be reduced to 8K?
Hi Rhoda. Thanks for your question. The minimum credit limit you are assigned when you first apply is $8,000.
The following is taken from the NAB website: ‘If you want to go below the limit for your card type (unless your minimum is already $500), you can request to change your type of card. Just remember that if you do, you may lose your platinum or gold benefits like complimentary insurances. You’ll usually still keep any rewards points showing on your statement, but it is worth checking.’
Hope this helps.
Hi
I spent 30 minutes attempting a credit card application and after checking my details many many times and getting very frustrated, the application would not progress to the next page. I gave up!! Please could you help me understand why the site is so user unfriendly??
Hi Vicki. I’ve been through the application this morning and I have not had any trouble with it. Can you please elaborate on the issues you were experiencing? Also, when in doubt, try another web browser. Thanks for your question. Jacob.
What insurance does this provide for travel in the U.S.A?
Hi Peter. Thanks for your question. According to the NAB website, ‘Cover for travel cancellation, overseas medical expenses, lost luggage (up to $20,000) or travel documents, rental vehicle excess, accidental death and disability, missed connections, personal liability, rental vehicle damage and theft excess waiver, hijack and detention, and kidnap and ransom.’ Hope this helps. I’ve sent some more information to your email. Jacob.
