Google Search Now Featuring World Bank Public Data

Posted December 15th, 2009

Google recently announced the launch of their newest baby, the global search functionality of public World Bank data accessible to anyone with an Internet connection and the ability to load Google.com.

The ability to view public data on Google isn’t new. In fact the search engine giant added this feature earlier this year in April. But despite the innovative way to search for information it wasn’t enough for the guys at Google.

So when World Bank made their API public nothing would hold the genius brains at Google back to release an improved version – which has been launched with this new feature.

What the Google World Bank public search means to you:

If you are a casual surfer on the net chances are you probably never need this feature. For all others – especially marketers, webmasters in the financial industry and others this new ability to find all kinds of statistics based on facts is astounding and very powerful. So much so that you will probably get VERY excited when you see the power of this baby.

Not just one but 17 world development indicators can be researched with this new tool.

You can use a broad range of queries to find data about Indonesia’s GDP, the general life expectancy in Brazil, Iceland’s use of energy and so much more.

You can get statistics on just about anything you desire which is invaluable for anyone relying on research data.

A quick search for Internet users in Australia quickly told me that 55.7% of our population were online in 2008. If you haven’t grasped the importance of this search function then clearly you are not excited by the possibilities of the Internet in the first place.

Once you see the resulting chart you can click on it to be led to an interactive chart. Think Internet marketing, think data research, think massive opportunity.
