Aussie bloke the first person to buy Windows 7 and used his credit card

Posted October 22nd, 2009

Windows 7 has been released globally and the first person to buy a legal copy globally was an Aussie – and ofcourse, the purchase was made on his credit card.

Windows 7 is Microsoft’s latest operating system, taking charge in the Microsoft Windows vs Apple OS X battle. The operating system has had a positive reception thus far from computing enthusiasts around the world, with many feeling that this operating system will bet one worth buying.

There was serious criticism of the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system, but tests and use of pre-release versions of Windows 7 have shown that many of the problems with Vista have been ironed out in Windows 7.

Unfortunately Aussies are being stung, having to pay an extra $200 for the same version of Windows 7, when compared to US retail pricing for Windows 7. Windows 7 Professional outright will cost Australians $449, but the US gets it for $128 less, with the retail price of $US299.99 ($322).

One thing to realise with such major retail product releases such as this, is that many consumers wouldn’t be able to be early adopters if it wasn’t for their trusty credit cards. Credit cards can provide cash flow to allow you to stay up with the trends. Without credit cards – impulse buys, luxury goods, and practical purchases would have to be restricted to times when you could have cash readily available.

If you too want to be an early adopter, and a seriously cool trend setter with the latest version of Windows, consider a brand new Dell Computer with Windows 7 – optimised with the right hardware to run Windows 7 to it’s maximum potential. Oh, and better yet – if you made the purchase with the Citibank Clear Platinum 0.99% for 6 months on purchases credit card, you won’t have to pay a cent in interest on your purchase until 2010!
