Comparing credit card features can be a difficult task. Between the card choices and the options within those cards it can be hard to decipher which one is truly the best deal. Add to that the fact that every credit card owner has to find one to suit their individual needs and the choice becomes even more difficult. There are loads of comparison tables to be found on the Internet, but those still require you to carefully examine each option and then choose between the few that meet your budget.

One of the major factors people consider when making their choice is the card annual fee. These fees range between $40 and upwards of $250 each year just for owning the card. The cost is a big hit to any budget which is why many consumers are opting for a no annual fee credit card. However, even if you choose a no annual fee credit card there are loads of options with in that realm of cards. For starters, the term ‘no annual fee’ can mean a few different things. Sometimes the offer is introductory meaning that it only lasts for a short time, usually the annual fee is waived for the first year that you own the card. In other cases the fee is waived after you have reached a predetermined spending amount on your card. Still other times there is actually no annual fee for the life of the credit card.

As you would expect a no annual fee credit card has some drawbacks. Because the annual fee is waived there is usually a higher interest rate charged to make up for the card issuers loss of that money. Sometimes there is also no rewards program attached to these cards, which is not a big deal for some spenders but a big loss for others. In order to make your decision you should design a comparison chart for your top choices.

Designing a Credit Card Comparison Chart

  • Draw out a grid - You may use a computer program, download one from a website, or simply use a pen and paper to draw out a grid so you can easily see all of your options.
  • Fill in your card choices - On the left column plug in the names of your top five choices for a credit card.
  • Fill in card options - Along the top of the grid fill in boxes for the card options like the length of the card annual fee offer, the interest rate, rewards program, and other features that you value.

Once you have filled in your own credit card comparison chart choosing the right card for you should be easy. You can look at each card and easily see how they stack up to one another in terms of cost and features. Then all you have to do is log on to the Internet and apply for your top choice.
