Qantas is currently in the process of adding nearly 80 aircraft to their fleet. The amazing service that the Qantas airline provides should motivate you to join their frequent flyer program.
Qantas has many hubs spread throughout the mainland of Australia. Their major domestic hubs are Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, and Adelaide. This makes travelling around Australia with Qantas airlines extremely efficient. They are also an excellent airline for international travel as well. They offer international flights to Singapore, London’s Heathrow airport, Changi, and Los Angeles International airports. Their service to these foreign airports is convenient, fast, and inexpensive. So no matter where you are travelling, the Qantas frequent flyer program is a good choice.
Membership in the Program
The rewards program has three levels of membership, each providing a number of great benefits to members.
The Silver membership is the most basic level. The features include:
- Free invitation to membership in the Qantas Club, including access to lounges, premium check-in, waitlists, and stand by flights
- Extra baggage allowance

- Premium telephone reservation service
- Free Qantas baggage tags
The Gold membership is the intermediate level. It includes all of the features of the Silver level and more.
- Guaranteed membership and access to the Qantas Club and its features
- Premium baggage checking
- Departure upgrades
The Platinum membership is the most comprehensive and exclusive program that Qantas offers. The features of Platinum membership include all of the features of the lower levels, and the following:
- Complementary gold membership for your spouse after earning 2,100 credits
- Extra baggage
- First class upgrades
- First class baggage handling
- Premium seat purchasing.
In addition to the benefits that you will receive when flying through Qantas airlines, you will also be able to save money and receive additional benefits on other travel services. Being a member of the program gets you access to discounts on hotels, car rentals, vacation packages and more. You can even use the rewards points to pay for them.
How to Earn Miles
The rate at which you earn points depends on your class of membership. Silver members earn 25% of the point values, gold members earn 50%, and platinum members earn 100% of the point value. This means that you will accumulate points much faster if you have Platinum membership in the Qantas rewards program.
You are not limited to earning points by flying with Qantas. That is just one of the ways to earn points through their frequent flyer program. You can also earn points through any other airline in the OneWorld alliance, which is the largest alliance of airlines in the world. You will earn points anytime you fly with one of the Quanta’s airline partners. The OneWorld airline partners include American Airlines, British Airways, Japan Airlines, Mexicana, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Malev, Iberia, and more.
This means that the Qantas program is ideal for both domestic and international air travel. No matter where you are going, there is probably a OneWorld affiliate that services the destination. This makes earning your points as easy as can be.
If you want another way to earn points, you can always sign up for a credit card with a Qantas rewards program. Many of the major credit card companies offer a Qantas rewards program. They include American Express, Citibank, Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, and Suncorp.
You can even earn rewards points when you spend money on travel services with one of Qantas business partners. These partners include a variety of services, from hotel bookings to car rentals. You can earn 3 points per dollar by staying at a partner hotel in Australia, or 1000 points for staying in the room of an international hotel partner. Other partner services that you can earn points from includes vacation packages, duty free purchases, money exchange, parking costs, business services, shopping, restaurant, entertainment purchases and more.
It is very easy to join the program. Membership is open to anyone, but members from Australia will have to pay a small fee. And redeeming your points is even easier. You can spend them on flights, upgrades, products, gift cards, flight vouchers, or even membership upgrades.
