St George Fee-Free Banking With The Complete Freedom Fee-Free Bank Account

Posted February 6th, 2010

A fee-free bank account helps you keep your precious cash where it belongs: in your bank account.

It is always galling to see a bank take a fee from you, especially when you keep your balance in the black and are therefore helping to keep that bank in business. This is especially so considering the events of the past eighteen months, when some banks have been shown to have behaved irresponsibly with your money.

The St George fee-free Complete Freedom Account allows the customer to avoid normal account maintenance fees providing they adhere to one condition.

To qualify, you must be depositing at least $2,000 in your account each month, which will most likely be your salary. After that, you are not required to maintain any sort of minimum balance to benefit from this fee-free bank account. You could run it down to $1 the very next day if you wanted.

The main advantages of a St George fee-free bank account:

* Unlimited access to branches, internet banking and over 2,900 ATMs across Australia
* A Visa Debit Card
* Access the Complete Freedom Account anywhere with iPhone banking
*Keep up-to-date on your accounts with ten free SMS alerts per month
* If your monthly deposits fall below $2,000 a month, you will still benefit from a reduced monthly account service fee of $5, rather than 7$ It will take ten minutes to apply for this fee-free bank account online. However, if there is more than fifteen minutes’ inactivity during the application, anything input will be wiped and you will have to start again. It is open to single or joint applications, and you need to be over eighteen years of age and a permanent resident of Australia.

You can apply for this St George fee-free account in the following way:

* Provide your contact details, such as address, phone number and an email address
* New customers are not required to provide their tax file number (TFN), but if they do not, St George will need to collect withholding tax on any interest you earn

* If you are an existing customer who is registered for Internet & Phone Banking, you can automatically insert your details onto the form by entering your Internet Banking log on details

* Once your application for the St George fee-free account has been submitted, you will receive an email containing your application number and information on what to do next
* A Welcome Pack will be sent to you in the mail
* If you are a new customer of St George, you will need to complete an identification check at a St George branch or Bank@Post outlet
