Travel Benefits:

St.George has a comprehensive travel insurance with the Platinum Credit Card which covers you overseas or throughout Australia. It is comforting to know that you are covered in case of any of these instances occurring. The travel insurance includes:

  • Loss or damage of personal possessions
  • Covered medical and hospital costs
  • If you experience flight delays all food and hotel expenses are paid for
  • If you have to rent a car, excess insurance on it is covered
  • Domestic flight problems are covered
  • When using your card to purchase goods they have free purchase cover
  • St.George guarantee an extended warranty insurance
  • Linked access to your other St.George accounts for the ease of one card banking
  • There is also a ‘best price’ guarantee where if you see a cheaper price for an item you have paid for with your card, the difference will be paid back to you

Full concierge service

This is a service that is excellent for those travelling away from home. The St.George concierge service can help you with flights, theatre bookings, accommodation information, organise travel arrangements, make dinner bookings, advise on local shopping and businesses and more – you just have to ask. They are there to help at all times of day. The only request is that you use your St.George card for any of the bookings made through this service. The concierge service will help in emergencies and will do all they can to assist.

* For Platinum an interest rate of 21.49% applies to cash advances. 55 days interest free on purchases only on accounts paid in full by the due date. Interest free period does not apply to the cash advances, or any purchases while an amount that has been debited as a result of a balance transfer remains unpaid. All applications for credit are subject to the Bank’s prevailing credit criteria. Fees, charges, terms and conditions apply and full details are available upon request.

*** If your application for credit is approved, the special balance transfer rate period commences on the date the account is opened. The special Balance Transfer interest rate period ends 6 months later, regardless of when any balance transfer request is processed by us. On the date the special balance transfer rate period ends the interest rate on the outstanding transferred balances reverts to the standard variable rate applying to purchases. Any interest free period for purchases does not apply while an amount that has been debited as a result of a balance transfer remains unpaid. Balance Transfers will not be accepted from personal loan, overdraft, business or St.George Group or international credit card accounts.

Pros
  • Lots of bonus insurance covers including: 'Extended Warranty', 'Price Guarantee' and 'Purchase Cover Insurance'.
  • An above average deal of only 3.99% interest charged on balance transfers for the first 6 months (you have to request this deal upon application).
Cons
  • The St George Platinum does not come with an in-built rewards program. For a Platinum level card, this is a disadvantage.

    I am in need of a credit card with 12 months travel insurance, full cover of injury,loss,damaged etc.
    I am wondering if you can point me in the right direction?

      Travel insurance is a common feature of platinum and gold credit cards. The terms and conditions and product disclosure statements for each card will provide you with details on what the travel insurance covers.

      According to the St.George complimentary travel insurance terms and conditions, ‘Overseas travel insurance is a benefit available to current St.George Bank cardholders, their spouse and dependent child/children provided that the person is up to and including 80 years of age’. Cheers.
