Low rate credit cards

Platinum credit cards
These cards offer a whole bunch of extras, and they charge a slightly higher interest rate than their low rate counterparts. The Platinum MyCard MasterCard offers free enrolment to the Card Services Rewards Program that gives you considerable freedom when it comes to redeeming your points for rewards. You get complimentary insurance covers as well as access to a platinum concierge service. You can avail of as many as 55 interest free days on purchases, this card comes with an introductory rate that applies on balance transfers and purchases, and you can keep paying a discounted annual fee if you apply in time.

If you get the low rate card you can use it for balance transfers and avail of a special rate that stays in place for the first nine months. With the platinum card, there’s a 0% introductory rate for 6 months that applies on balance transfers and purchases.
Cardholders of both cards receive protection through purchase cover insurance and guaranteed pricing scheme. Platinum cardholders can look forward to extra cover in the form of extended warranty, interstate flight inconvenience insurance, international travel insurance, and transit accident insurance.

MasterCard SecureCode is in place to provide additional security when you use your card to make online transactions. Fraudshield monitors your card for irregular transactions, and notifies you of the same immediately. How to apply for a Summerland Credit Union Credit Card
You can apply for a MyCard MasterCard by visiting any Summerland branch and you can also initiate the process over the phone. You can download an application by visiting the Summerland Credit Union website or you can even apply online. To download an application or to apply online simply click on the ‘Go to Site’ button next to the card you select. Ensure that you meet the following eligibility criteria before applying.
- You’re older than 18 years of age
- You’re a permanent resident of Australia
- You don’t have bad credit history
- You have a valid email address
- You earn a minimum of $25,000 to apply for the Low Rate MyCard, and at least $35,000 p.a. to apply for the Platinum MyCard
The application requires you to part with a host of personal, employment related, and financial information.
- Personal. The first section requires your complete name, date of birth, nationality, marital status, number of dependents, mother’s maiden name, and the name and contact details of a friend or relative who resides elsewhere.
- Contact. This section requires your home address, how long you’ve lived there, residential status, phone number, and email address.
- Job. Mention if you’re self-employed or retired. If employed, provide your job status along with your employer’s name and contact details.
- Financial. This section can be the most exhaustive, and requires information surrounding your income and expenses. While income includes income from all sources, expenses include your regular living expenses as well as all other recurring expenses. You also have to provide details about your existing loans, credit cards, store cards, and other debts.
After applying for your card
Once you submit your application Card Services reviews it and a Card Services rep might contact you for additional information. An income verification call going to your employer is part of the process, which you can help quicken by letting your payroll department know of the call ahead of time.

Is there a maximum limit to the number of points I can earn and do my reward points expire?
The platinum card enables you to earn up to 100,000 reward points in every 12 months cycle. These points don’t expire as long as your account remains default-free.

You can exchange your reward points for a variety of store and travel vouchers. By using your points in the form of cashback you can pay your card’s annual fee or reduce your account’s balance. You can turn to Take Fight to book a flight ticket, or you can transfer your points to a frequent flyer program like Velocity, Emirates Skywards, or KrisFlyer.
