Switch to Virgin Money – Balance Transfer to a new Virgin Credit Card

Posted August 4th, 2010

Find out why so many Australians are changing banks, by making a Virgin credit card balance transfer, and getting a special low interest rate on their existing credit card debt.

With Virgin Money’s recent launch of two new Virgin credit cards, namely the Virgin Flyer Credit Card and the Virgin No Annual Fee Credit Card, expect them to take over a fair portion of the credit card market, especially considering the excellent conditions and rates offered to Australian consumers.

Virgin No Annual Fee Credit Card

Virgin No Annual Fee Credit Card

If you are after a credit card that does not charge you an annual fee each year, just for having the card, the Virgin No Annual Fee Credit Card could be the answer for you. You can also take advantage of the balance transfer option, if you are looking to change banks and switch to Virgin Money.

  • $0 annual fee
  • 18.99% p.a. on purchases
  • 2.9% p.a. for 6 months on balance transfers
  • Cash Advance Rate of 20.99% p.a.
  • 44 days interest free
  • Minimum Income Requirement of $25,000 p.a.

Virgin Balance Transfer

The original Virgin credit card lasted for five years from 2003, but problems with the issuer Westpac meant that Virgin lost their portfolio to Westpac in 2008. Now Virgin Money Australia has recently relaunched their credit cards, and that can only be good news for the Australian consumer. First time round, 800,000 people took up the Virgin credit card because it adopted a new approach. Where most credit card issuers were increasing their rates and fees, Virgin did not charge an annual, had a low rate of interest, and their balance transfer offers made a Virgin credit card balance transfer a very attractive proposition.

Currently, the Virgin No Annual Fee Credit Card offers a 2.9% p.a. for 6 months while the Virgin Flyer Credit Card comes with a balance transfer rate of 1.9% p.a. for 9 months.

Making a Virgin credit card balance transfer will be a good idea for anyone who is carrying a debt at a regular rate of interest that they cannot envisage paying off within two or three months. The only drawback, when considering this for a smaller debt, is the annual fee for the Virgin Flyer Credit Card which works out to approximately $99. However, since the Virgin No Annual Fee Credit Card offers much better conditions for balance transfers and incurs no annual fees, this would be the better option, no matter how much outstanding debt one has.

For example, not only does the Virgin No Annual Fee Credit Card have a lower rate for balance transfers but the purchase rate is also lower at 18.99% p.a. when compared to the Virgin Flyer Credit Card at 20.99% p.a. and many other credit card offers currently on the market. This makes it a perfect solution for anyone looking to get their personal finances under control.

If you do have a debt that requires a lower rate of interest, it would be a good idea to check out a Virgin credit card balance transfer, especially at the rates offered by the Virgin No Annual Fee Credit Card.
