Use Your Credit Card To Get Exclusive Access To Concerts
Posted August 23rd, 2010 and last modified September 20th, 2012Credit card giants MasterCard and Visa have an exclusive entertainment themed benefits program, for members and holders of their cards.
What is offered to card holders within this program is special access to concerts, and music events. Visa call their program Visa Entertainment, whilst MasterCard have named theirs MasterCard Applause.
Not wanting to miss out on the action, American Express gives some entertainment bonuses to it’s members, although not in the form of an official program like the other two.
Who Can Get Access to Concerts?
Well unlike reward cards, these benefits are not given or gained by spending money on your credit card. Benefits are offered to most card holders, even if they own a debit card instead of a credit card. In fact even some of the pre-paid credit cards available also benefit from the schemes.

ANZ Low Rate credit card with access to MasterCard Applause
As a cardholder of the ANZ Low Rate credit card you will be able to have access to exclusive concerts and events, special offers on tickets, and access to pre-sale periods for some of the most popular concerts and events.
- $58 p.a. annual fee
- 13.14% p.a. on purchases
- 0% p.a. for 9 months on balance transfers
- Cash Advance Rate of 21.49% p.a.
- 55 days interest free
- Minimum Income Requirement of $15,000 p.a.
Who Benefits?
In theory with this type of promotion everybody actually wins. The promoter gets to put his music event in front of a hungry crowd, meaning people who maybe wouldn’t have known about the events, and wouldn’t have bought tickets may now decide to go.
The card company know that there is a very good chance that if you decide to purchase tickets for one of the promoted events, you will pay for the tickets using your debit or credit card, meaning more business for them.
Finally, of course you the customer benefit by getting access to concerts that may have sold out, or you may even some sort of exclusivity on your tickets. There is also a chance to buy tickets before they go on general sale, meaning you will get the pick of the best seats.
As you can see it really is a win win for everyone.
How Can I Get Involved?
Well first of all you need to be a holder of either a Visa or MasterCard. Once you have a card you then need to register by going online. The only real stipulations with the program are that you must be aged over 18, and be a permanent resident of Australia.
Schemes like these are becoming very popular, and joint ventures between companies is now much more common than it used to be. From a consumer standpoint it always makes sense to look for these kind of free programs, and use them to your benefit.
The beauty of these schemes by Visa and MasterCard is that to gain access to concerts before anyone else, you do not have to spend a dollar on your card! Well unless of course you want to buy the tickets!!
