Are the free flights available from and within WA?

  2. 2

    Hi Todd

Thanks for your comment. The flight offer is for up to 4 flight segments per year and is defined as a non-stop flight. e.g. a flight from Brisbane to Melbourne, with a Sydney stopover will be considered as 2 flight segments, Bris ? Syd then Syd ? Melb

The terms and conditions don’t have any restrictions saying that the flights aren’t available from and within WA. The airport however would have to have Virgin Australia flights available.

“The balance transfer interest rate applies to balances transferred with this offer at point of application, for the period shown. To be eligible for this balance transfer offer, you need to apply by 31 July 2011. Transferred balances are repaid first during this period. At the end of the balance transfer period, interest rate on any outstanding transferred balance will revert to the interest rate for cash advances”

what is the expire on the fly POINTS?
can you wait and wait to accumulate more points?

  12. 12

    Hi Maria

    Thanks for your question

As long as you continue to occasionally earn or redeem Velocity Points, your Velocity membership never closes and your Points balance will never expire. If you don’t earn or redeem Velocity Points in a three-year period, your Account will become inactive and your membership and Points balance may be terminated.

Yes – you can choose to keep the points in your Velocity Rewards account and continue earning more points.

    Hi Rose

    Thanks for your question

When applying for the credit card, there is a section specifically for doing a balance transfer where you outline your existing credit card details and balances. The bank will then either give you a cheque to pay off those balances with each provider, or pay each provider directly.

    Cheers,

    Jeremy

  22. 22

    Hi Deb

    Thanks for your question

To book a flight, it really depends on the origin and destination. You can use the points calculator on the Velocity Rewards website to calculate the required amount of points.

Bills are payable with either a Funds Transfer (from another bank account), by Direct Debit Auto Pay, Cheque, via Bank@Post at an Australia Post office or via BPay from any other suitable bank account that you have.

    Cheers,

    Jeremy

  23. 23

    Hi Jeremy,

Does the interest free period for purchases apply to overseas transactions? Will there be a currency conversion fee?

    Thanks,
    Brenton

  40. 40

Why is this and several other credit card websites promoting 0% interest on cash advances for 6 months until 31st December 2011. Then when you ring up not true and never has been.

  41. 41

    Hi Susan,

    Thanks for the comment.

The Virgin Flyer Credit Card is offering a 0% p.a. for 6 months interest rate on cash advances exclusively online.

Point 6 in the terms and conditions states: 6. The 0% p.a. interest rate applies for the first 6 months on purchases, cash advances and balance transfers.

I have confirmed this with Virgin Money and this is definitely the case should you apply for the Virgin Flyer Credit Card via our website.

    Cheers,

    Jeremy

  42. 42

    Hi Brenton

I have confirmed that the 0% purchase rate offer applies to overseas transactions.

There is a Foreign Currency Exchange Fee for Visa transactions of 3.3%. When you use your card overseas, a foreign currency exchange fee is charged on all retail and cash transactions that are converted into Australian dollars. On your statement, you will see overseas transactions converted to the Australian dollar value and including the fees as one single transaction.

    Cheers

    Jeremy

  43. 43

The application asks for time with employer but I’ve just started with a new employer. Will this affect the application?

  44. 44

    Hi Joanne

Employment history is certainly taken in to account in the credit card application process.

    Cheers

    Jeremy

  45. 45

can i use the cash advance to pay a personal loan?

  46. 46

    Hi

I have two credit cards I want to transfer from to this one. Approximately $3,500 in debt, if I am unable to pay off the $3,500 in six months, do I pay the interest on this total amount or the outstanding amount.

  47. 47

    Hi Kim

At the end of a balance transfer period, the interest rate reverts to the cash advance rate which is applied to the outstanding balance.

    Cheers

    Jeremy

  48. 48

    G’day,

Is the complimentary travel insurance domestic only or international? There was no further info on the Virgin Money website about this, unless you started your application for the card… not good.

  49. 49

    Hi

Our company is looking for a new credit card with that offers free & discounted flights outside Aust. We spend about $50-$60k on the credit card & looking to increase it. Also employee credit cards controlled by the main one, and also earns points for free flights. What’s the best no. to contact you? We have quite specific needs. Thanks

  50. 50

    Hi Jeanette,

What you’re looking for is a business credit card that is coupled with a rewards program to take advantage of your company spending. There are quite a few out there tailored to specific needs; however, a card like the American Express Platinum Credit Card offers supplementary cards to your employees at no cost has no spend / credit limit. Please check our business credit card comparison page for further information. – http://www.creditcardfinder.com.au/business-credit-cards

  51. 51

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for your question. The terms and conditions set out the guidelines for complimentary international travel insurance, transit accident insurance and interstate flight inconvenience insurance. Interstate Flight Inconvenience Insurance and Transit Accident Insurance cover you and your family for things like missed flights and lost luggage etc. when in a domestic terminal, while the international cover includes your entire overseas trip. Please check the fine print by following the terms and conditions link at the bottom of the page for further information or don’t hesitate to give Virgin a call for clarification on certain points. Hope this had helped. Cheers.

    Jeremy

  52. 52

    Hi
Can you use any reward points earned to pay the annual fee + any additional card holder fees?

    Thanks

  53. 53

    Hi Sarah,

Yes you may providing the loan is less than your maximum credit limit, but beware of the interest rate charged on cash advances as it is very high. Generally speaking, you should avoid cash advances as they are very costly. Thanks.

    Cheers,
    Jeremy

  54. 54

Can you have a joint account on one of these cards? Two of us want to share one.

  55. 55

    Hi Susan,

Your income details are basically what you earn, your employers name and address and phone number. They will also ask you what you spend and what you owe and own too. You will probably have to provide your last few payslips via fax or email as proof of income once the application has been completed. They use this information to determine how much credit should be made available to you. Hope this helps.

    Cheers
    Jeremy

  56. 56

With the Virgin Flyer Card, can you transfer balances from a personal loan with another institution, as opposed to from a credit card?

  57. 57

    Hi Andy,

Virgin do allow you to bring the balance of a personal loan to their credit cards. Citibank also offer this feature. Thanks for your question.

    Cheers
    Jeremy

  58. 58

    Hi Sarah,

If you have two people that would like to share a Virgin Flyer Credit Card you are able to have up to four supplementary card holders with this card. This is not the same as a joint account but spending across all cards will go towards earning points on the one account. The supplementary card holders will not be able to make changes to the account but are authorised to make purchases. Cheers.

    Jeremy

  59. 59

    Hi Shane,

Velocity Rewards can be redeemed to pay for flights or flight upgrades, car hire, accommodation, travel and entertainment, shopping and chartable donations. You are not able to use the points to pay for the card’s annual fee of any additional card holder fees. Thanks for the question.

    Cheers

  62. 62

    Hi Cara,

Thanks for the question. Please refer to the range of exemptions listed on page 19 onwards of the Virgin Flyer Credit Card terms and conditions – https://my.virginmoney.com.au/global_docs/pdf/CreditCard_Insurance.pdf – In order to be covered by the complimentary international travel insurance you must pay for the flight using your credit card. Thanks.

    Jeremy

  65. 65

    Hi,

Thanks for your question. We couldn’t find the exact conversion because miles are calculated in blocks on the Velocity Rewards website. A flight between Sydney and Melbourne is 456 miles and requires 6900 rewards for an economy seat. There are a host of other airlines that act as Virgin partners that all have different standards for calculating the milage value of their rewards. Cheers.

why is it so hard to get a virgin credit card statement ? I have to ring some place very far away from Australia to get an answer that apologizes for this BUT does not improve. Getting same online – guess that is easier than flying without wings. There has to be a way of getting a statement easier.

  67. 67

i fly from sydney to perth and back a lot. are the complimentary seats available for this route?
are there any restrictions on domestic flights with in australia?

  68. 68

    Hi Justin,

The Virgin Flyer and High-Flyer cards offer four ‘buy one get on free’ domestic flights within Australian every year. You will need to cover the credit card booking fees and the available seats are the Saver, Flexi, and Premium fare classes and not sale fares. The offer is also restricted by seat availability, the Primary Cardholder must always be one of the Guests travelling on the booking, bookings must be made a minimum of 21 days in advance of travel, the two people must be travelling together and you must book over the phone and not over the internet. For a full list of restrictions, refer to the terms and conditions found here

    Cheers

  69. 69

    Hi,

Thanks for the question. We found this on the Virgin Flyer Card website: “We send you a monthly statement or email you a reminder to view your statement online if you’ve used your card or maintained a balance during the previous month. But if you require another copy posted to you, you’ll need to pay $7 per statement. It’s so easy to avoid this fee, simply log on to your account at my.virginmoney.com.au, where you can view and download your statements at no charge.” We hope this has helped.

  72. 72

I have made a purchase an interest free period on a credit card, if i was to transfer to your card, would i be looking at extra fees from the other card company.
Please email me as i am wanting to change credit card companies.

  73. 73

How and where can I make repayments on the card if approved?

  74. 74

Hi, with the balance transfer offer, do you have to close the previous credit card or can you keep both going if your income supports it?

  75. 75

Is there any complimentary travel insurance included

  76. 76

    Hi,

Thanks for your question. The Virgin Flyer and Virgin High Flyer credit cards do not allow joint account holders with equal access to things like raising and lowering the credit limit and closing the account. Both cards do allow up to four additional card holders that may accrue points for the one account. Cheers.

i am currently a virgin flyer cardholder. the 6mth interest free period is about to expire on my card. i would like to take advantage of this offer of 1.9% int for 9mths. i am hoping that current customers are not ineligible as I would hope that virgin is th etype of company that rewards loyalty. Can you tell me how I would go about applying for this current offer.

  84. 84

    Hi Tina,

Thanks for the question. A balance transfer taking advantage of the low introductory rate of interest is available to new customers only. In addition, it is not possible to do a balance transfer from an existing Virgin credit card to a new Virgin credit card. Cheers.
