Best St.George (Owned by Westpac) Internet Banking Credit Card*
The St. George Vertigo MasterCard is the ideal choice for Australians who love shopping online and enjoy the convience of internet banking. With a 5 star credit award from Cannex Australia, look no further than the St George Vertigo as the best internet banking credit card.
- $55 annual fee
- 2.99% for 6 months p.a. on purchases
- 20.74% p.a. on cash advances
- 2.99% p.a. for 6 months on balance transfers
This news applies to those fortunate enough to apply and receive a Virgin Credit Card (which has been closed for application for a long time). As of February 9th 2009, Virgin credit cards in Australia will be re-issued to owners as the new ‘Westpac Ignite’ card.
-
Both cards are practically the same, with subtle differences. The new Westpac Ignite card offers no duplicate statement fee for instance. However, your Virgin card will officially expire as of June 1st 2009 and you will be forced to use your new Ignite card. Westpac Ignite owners can still enjoy the cards main selling points:
- 12.99% p.a. on purchases
- 55 days interest free on purchases
- $0 annual fee
The Ignite card is a rare breed of credit card which actually offers both low rates and no annual fee for Australians. Virgin is renowned for the competitiveness to step in and challenge leading brands in markets, and their old Virgin offers for Australia are no exception.
-
Now that the card is in the hands of Westpac, it is unlikely applications will ever open again, as the margin of profit made from the card would simply be much lower than that of Westpac’s current credit card range. - If the card ever returns for new applicants, it will be sure to grace the top of Australia’s best credit card offers, and ours will be no exception. -
-
While not relatively as competitive, there is still a range of quality low interest credit cards from leading Australian credit card providers available for online application.
