Hi, i planned to travel using connecting flights which takes me to my destination after 19 hours. Thanks to VISA Platinum for offering me around 5% discount on my ticket purchases. Now i have a question, how can i benefit being a Visa card holder at the airport lounge? Is there any facility providing for the holder at the terminals? Specially in Abu Dhabi? Waiting for the response at the earliest.
    thanks in advance.

Hi Genny, thanks for your inquiry!

Rental Vehicle Excess cover $1,250 per interstate journey. Rewards points can be earned on eligible purchases. As a result you can earn reward points in making eligible purchases to be covered by this insurance policy. Please refer to page 49 of the PDF I have sent to your email for the full terms of this insurance cover.

i have heard that if i pay for a car rental with my platinum visa issued by NAB that i do not have to pay to bring down my insurance excess. is that correct and can i rent a care from any rent a car company in the Gold Coast?

    • Staff
      Shirley | May 14, 2014

      Hi Shane,

      Thanks for your question.

In the terms and conditions it states that “in the event of a loss or damage to a rental vehicle which was rented by you during the rental period. We will reimburse you up to maximum of $1,250 per interstate journey for any excess or deductible, which you become legally liable to pay”.

Please be mindful that only some types of cards are eligible, so you may want to have a read through the PDS to ensure your rental vehicle is covered.

i have been told that if you purchase electrical goods with your Platinum Visa, the usual manufacturers warranty is extended by a year. i s this correct and how do you get something repaired under it.

    • Staff
      Shirley | May 2, 2014

      Hi Julianne,

      Thanks for your question.

This depends on the manufacturer’s warranty when you purchase the goods and where you have bought the goods. Please see this page for more information – it’s important to specifically check the terms and conditions of your own credit card as well.

Is their any travel insurance for Indian resident holding visa card

    • Staff
      Elizabeth | February 3, 2015

      Hi Nagesh,

      Thanks for your question.

You can have a look at the providers that accept applications from temporary residents on this page. You can then look at this page to see the cards these providers offer that have complimentary insurance. Make sure you check the eligibility criteria of the card you’re thinking of applying for by clicking ‘more info’.

You can also consider standalone travel insurance policies for non-residents on this page.

      I hope this has helped.

Qantas Lounge web says that transiting pax can access Qantas Lounges by showing flight tickets and Visa Platinum Credit cards.

(We have a 6 hour layover in Bris. after coming from US (With Qantas) arriving 5 a.m before flying on to Fraser Coast with Qantas.)

    Can you confirm this please.

      Hi, Max.

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

I had a chat with Qantas and they said that holding a Visa Platinum Card does not give you access to the Qantas Club. You need to be a Qantas Club member to access this lounge. I’d be keen to find out where you read otherwise. My understanding is that you have to have Platinum One, Platinum, Gold Frequent Flyer Qantas membership status, an Emirates Platinum or Gold Skyward Member, have Emerald or Sapphire oneworld status or be an international First or international Business oneworld customer.

      I hope this helps.

I am a Platinum card holder with NAB and will be travelling soon with my two small children. I was wondering if you could tell me what travel and/or health insurance I may be eligible for. A friend also thought that Platinum card holders were given access to certain airport lounges. Is this true? And if so which ones?
    Thank you.

      Hi, Max.

I’m going to send some information about how to book this service to your email.

    • Staff
      Jacob | June 20, 2013

Hi Valerie. Thanks for your question. The complimentary international travel insurance benefit is offered with NAB Premium credit cards, NAB Qantas Plus Card and NAB flybuys Rewards card – they changed the names of the cards and ‘premium’ now replaces ‘platinum’. I have sent information about the policy to your email. It covers a range of overseas events. Please note that there may be an excess if you make a claim. Currently there is no lounge access offered among the range of NAB credit cards. Jacob.

I’m travelling with my family to the USA and Canada and I have purchased the tickets with my platinum credit card. Could you please give details about the kind of medical insurance I and my family get and other travel insurance cover, afforded under this card.

      Jacob | April 17, 2013

Hi Ghanbar. Thanks for your question. Who is the card issuer? We will need to know how the card is issued by before we can provide details about the insurances and benefits. Visa is the card issuer, but who is the card issuer? Jacob.

Do I have to apply for travel insurance or is it automatic. Do I need additional travel insurance – travelling to France.

    • Staff
      Jacob | March 15, 2013

Hi Mary. If you check the terms and conditions of your complimentary travel insurance (found online) – there will be a section outlining eligibility or activation of cover, this is where you will find the things you need to do in order to be covered. If you follow these criterion, the cover is automatic. Thanks.
