Westpac Altitude Business Platinum credit cards review

The Westpac Altitude Business Platinum Credit Card gives you a rate of 0% p.a. with your purchases for 12 months and $0 annual fee for your first year. While you can look forward to using the Visa credit card just about anywhere in the world, if you shop at merchants that accept American Express you stand to earn more reward points. This card, like many other platinum cards, offers complimentary purchase, travel and business specific covers. Plus, access to a platinum concierge service can come in handy from securing a last minute dinner reservation to finding the perfect gift for a loved one.

Benefits of the Westpac Altitude Business Platinum credit cards

Some of the benefits you can expect from your Westpac Altitude Business Platinum credit cards include:

  • Two cards linked to one account. This platinum credit card account, as mentioned, comes with two credit cards. The Visa card has greater global acceptance and give you greater access to your cash especially when shopping in Australia. The American Express card, on the other hand, enables you to earn thrice as many reward points.
  • Complimentary platinum insurance. Purchases made using either of these cards receive protection through purchase security insurance, extended warranty insurance, and account holder’s guaranteed pricing scheme cover. Complimentary travel covers include overseas travel insurance and transit accident insurance, and business related covers include account holder’s business inconvenience insurance and account holder’s unauthorised transaction insurance.
  • Rewards. Your Westpac Altitude Business Platinum credit cards account comes linked to the Altitude Rewards program. There is no cap on the maximum number of points you can earn, and you can redeem them for a variety of rewards from merchandise to frequent flyer points. Cardholders can look forward to transferring their rewards to Qantas Frequent Flyer, Virgin Australia’s Velocity, Malaysia Airlines’ Enrich, Air New Zealand Airpoints, Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer, and Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles.
  • Easy tax reporting. You can export transaction details into BAS and MYOB quite easily, and you can also download transaction history as an Excel sheet for simplified analysis.

Features of the Westpac Altitude Business Platinum credit cards

Here’s a list of features the Altitude Business Platinum credit cards come with:

  • Annual fee. You have to pay an ongoing annual fee of $295 for as long as the account remains active, and you don’t have to pay this fee for the first year if you apply by 31 October 2016. If you hold the three essential MyBusiness Solutions products, you don’t have to pay any annual fee for life for up to two cards.
  • Reward points. Every dollar you spend on eligible purchases using the American Express card earns 3 Altitude points. When you use the Visa card for eligible purchases in Australia, every dollar spent earns 1 Altitude point, and it changes to 2 points per dollar for international purchases. You can earn bonus points when you shop at partner stores, and you also earn points on government payments.
  • Interest-free days. Pay your account’s closing balance in full before each due date and you can make use of as many as 45 interest-free days on purchases.
  • Platinum concierge service. This service functions in the form of a personal assistant and can help you reserve tables at restaurants, organise gifts, book tickets for different kinds of events, and even arrange business meetings.
  • Card security. Cardshield provides enhanced protection against fraud, and Falcon Fraud Protection constantly monitors your account for suspicious and fraudulent transactions. In the online world, Verified by Visa and American Express SafeKey provide additional security. The Westpac Fraud Money Back Guarantee ensures you don’t have to end up paying for unauthorised and fraudulent transactions, provided you use your card responsibly.

    Hi,

I’m searching for a Card that earns me the best Velocity Points for when i pay the ATO and other purchases using either Visa/Mastercard. I’ve heard there is a Virgin Card that earns 1 point per $1 even with payments to the ATO. Is this true and if so, what card would this be?

    Thanking you in advance

Hi Charles, thanks for your inquiry!

Unfortunately Virgin Money/ Velocity does not support reward points with payments to the ATO. Please refer to the following page for earning rewards points by paying tax.

      Cheers,
