Westpac Business Credit Cards Security
Posted May 19th, 2010With credit limits on business cards usually far higher than on personal cards, Westpac business credit cards security is crucial to maintain at the highest possible level.
Thus, there are a number of features in place to protect the business credit card customer. However, Westpac also advises that the security of a business credit card can be enhanced by the customer following some simple guidelines, such as not keeping card information where it can be easily seen by unauthorised people, and studying each month’s card statement to make certain that all transactions are recognised as being genuine.
Among the Westpac business credit card security measures are:
CardShield
CardShield is designed to prevent fraudulent activity on your business credit card. This gives you the peace of mind of knowing that you can make purchases safely online. There are two features to CardShield:
- Online Transaction Security Guarantee – This feature of Westpac business credit card security guarantees that should any fraudulent activity take place on your card, or any online transaction is made without your knowledge or consent, Westpac will not deem you to be liable as long as you notify Westpac of the unauthorised transaction before the due date shown on the card account statement, and provided it is clear that you or anyone authorised to use your account did not contribute to the loss. Westpac’s BusinessChoice credit card also offers protection against misuse of the card with liability cover of up to $20,000 per cardholder, and $150,000 total cover for the business each year.
- 24/7 Falcon fraud protection - This appears on credit cards from many different providers. This is the active monitoring of every transaction to identify irregular activity; that is, any transaction that is not in keeping with the normal pattern of use of the business card in question. For example, amounts that are larger or smaller than usual, or transactions made in quick succession, or transactions made in geographical locations not normally associated with the card. In any case such as these, Westpac business credit card security fraud specialists will call the customer to check that the legitimate cardholder is the one making the transaction.
CHIP technology
To bring Westpac business credit card security bang up to date, new Westpac business cards will feature an embedded microchip that offers the very latest in credit card security. This chip securely stores your personal data, including your name, card number and expiry date, whereas before this would have been contained on the magnetic stripe on the back of the card. Microchips are far harder to copy, thus the cloning of business credit cards becomes a lot more difficult for the fraudster to achieve.
