The Ignite credit card appeared in February 2009 and is no longer available for new applications. It was actually the card that the Virgin Credit Card morphed into following its demise a year earlier when Westpac’s card issuer contract with Virgin expired and Westpac kept its customer portfolio. You may be interested in similar low interest rate credit cards and $0 annual fee credit cards. Alternatively, you may be interested in comparing the latest Westpac Credit Cards available for application.

Keeping up the Virgin example, the Westpac Ignite credit card does not carry an annual fee, and that’s guaranteed for life. This is therefore an excellent credit card for anyone who only needs to carry a card for occasional use, thus resents paying an annual fee. However, it does not have to be restricted to occasional use on the grounds of a high interest rate, which is the normal downside of no annual fee credit cards.

There are no balance transfer deals or other introductory offers available on the Westpac Ignite, but this is not unusual on a “no-frills” credit card like this. The whole concept is to give customers exactly what they need from their plastic, and not confuse matters with extra features they don’t want and to dilute the features that really do matter.

As the Westpac Ignite Credit Card is no longer available to new cardholders, you can compare other Westpac cards with low fees and interest rates to find the right card for you.

I am looking at doing a Balance Transfer but note that this is not an option with the Ignite card. Can I replace my Ignite card with another card which would allow me to do a Balance Transfer?

    • Staff
      Jonathan | May 27, 2015

Hi Chris, thanks for your inquiry!

We have confirmed with Westpac that balance transfers from the Ignite card are supported, as long as you have a sufficient credit limit to accommodate the balance transfer on the new credit card.

Due to low income last year we used the credit card to pay bills. Now I am trying to pay weekly amounts and have noticed our insurance premium is approx $50 adding that to interest we are not getting very far lowing the debt. What can we do? can I cancel the insurance premium?

      Hi Julie,

      Thanks for your question.

This is really something you’ll need to speak to a financial planner about. You can access free financial advice through the financial counselling hotline on 1800 007 007. You may be able to cut down on other areas of your budget other than your insurance premium.

      I hope this has helped.

Ignite credit card. What is the BSB so I can put money onto the card please?

    • Staff
      Jacob | January 16, 2014

      Hi, Colin.

      Thanks for your question.

The BSB number depends on a particular branch. You can find the BSB number that is linked to your account on the Westpac website. They offer a service which allows you to validate your account number with a BSB.

      I hope this helps.

    • Staff
      Jacob | November 25, 2013

      Hi Eugenia.

You should have received a new card in the mail a month before the old one expired. Please contact Westpac for further information on this topic.

      Thanks for your question.

I am inquiring about the Event movie money passes offer. I had made the qualifying purchases on my card during September and the offer noted I should receive the passes by October 30th.

I have not received any passes as of the 30th October. Are there some other details I am not aware of?

    Cheers, David.

      Jacob | October 30, 2013

      Hi David.

      Thanks for your question.

I’m not aware of the offer for cinema tickets. A quick check online showed that you’re eligible for a discount when you pre-purchase your ticket online through the Westpac Ignite Instant Offers Program.

Is this what you were referring to?
