Which Airlines Are a Part of the Velocity Rewards Program?

Posted March 9th, 2011 and last modified December 29th, 2011

Features of the Velocity Rewards Program

If you’re a member of the Velocity Rewards Program, you’re able to earn plenty of points by shopping with any of the Velocity partners. These include paying for tickets with airlines or cruise-lines, car hire companies, and more.

When you’ve accumulated sufficient points, you’re able to redeem them for free flights, accommodation in a wide range of hotels, car hire, or other travel related items.

You can also choose to redeem your points on other merchandise, such as fuel purchases, or even on shopping vouchers to help pay for those grocery bills.

When you use the linked airline credit card available, you have the capacity to earn plenty of Velocity points. Accumulate these to redeem them for that overseas holiday you’ve always wanted, or for domestic flights within Australia if you prefer.

Three Levels of Membership

The Velocity Program offers members three levels of membership: red, silver, or gold. However, unlike other programs, the levels are only determined by how many status credits you earn.

Airlines Included within the Velocity Program

Virgin Australia: Virgin Australia is Australia’s second largest airline. Since its launch in Australia in 2000, it’s become well-known as being the affordable choice in low-cost domestic flights across the country. Based in Brisbane, Virgin flights range across 28 different cities and towns.

Pacific Blue: Pacific Blue is the subsidiary airline of Virgin Australia and offers flights between Australia and New Zealand, as well as flights to Fiji, Tonga, the Cook Islands, and Vanuatu. The airline also offers domestic flights across some cities in New Zealand.

V Australia: Seeking to increase the number of international flights available from Australia, Virgin Australia launched V Australia. Based in Sydney, V Australia offers international flights to the United States and the United Kingdom. More recently, their international flight paths extended to include flights to Johannesburg and Thailand as well.

Polynesian Blue: Yet another venture by Virgin Australia, but in conjunction with the government of Samoa, Polynesian Blue offers flights between the islands of Tonga, Samoa, and Fiji, as well as flights between Samoa, Australia, and New Zealand.

SkyWest Airlines: SkyWest Airlines are not beneath the Virgin umbrella, being wholly owned by Singapore Airlines. Yet this airline is still a partner within the Velocity Rewards Program and offers plenty of extensive flights between some important towns across Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Using this airline will still enable you to earn more Velocity points. You can also redeem your points for flights with SkyWest as well.

Other Velocity Partners: In a bid to compete with major rival airline, Qantas, Virgin Australia added other airlines to its Velocity Rewards Program. These include Malaysia Airlines, Delta and Hawaiian Airlines, to name a few.
