Compare credit cards from one of Australia’s largest supermarket chains and save money on your next grocery shop

Woolworths is one of Australia’s largest and most frequented supermarket chains. Along with Coles, Woolworths has the lion’s share of the Australian grocery market. Woolworths has grown to be more than just a place to do your shopping. Whether it’s petrol, food or your credit card repayments — there are more ways you can save at Woolworths.

Woolworths offer credit cards, a number of financial services like insurance and prepaid debit cards, and they even have a loyalty program: Woolworths Everyday Rewards. Woolworths credit cards are rewards-focused and benefit shoppers at Woolworths Group stores the most. Woolworths Everyday Rewards Points translate to money off at the checkout, or there’s the option to get rewarded with Qantas Points when you shop. We compare Woolworths credit cards and have a look at their value on this page. There are answers to frequently asked questions and information on how to apply for a Woolworths credit card as well.

You can elect to transfer your non-Woolworths credit card or store card debt to a Woolworths credit card when you apply for the account online.

    • Balance transfers are accepted from other credit cards or store cards only
    • You can transfer from up to two other credit cards or store cards
    • The minimum amount you can transfer is $500 and the maximum amount is up to your available credit limit

If you’re approved for the account, once your receive and activate the card the balance transfer will be automatically processed by Woolworths.

    For existing customers:

    • Existing Woolworths account holders that want to transfer a balance from another credit card or store card will need to complete and send in a balance transfer request form. You can download this from the Woolworths website.
    • If your balance transfer to a Woolworths credit card is accepted, it can take up to 14 business days before the funds clear and you can see the balance in your account.

When do I get my first credit card statement?

Your statement is issued within five weeks of the first transaction you make on your Woolworths credit card. If you have requested a balance transfer, it counts as a transaction and is processed as soon as you activate your Woolworths credit card.

How do I get interest-free days on purchases?

If you can’t pay your Woolworths credit card balance in full when your statement is issued, you’re required to pay back a small percentage of your total outstanding balance by the due date shown on your statement. This is called the minimum monthly repayment. You can find information about the minimum repayment for Woolworths credit cards on our review pages.

How do I make a repayment to my Woolworths credit card?

You can make a repayment to your Woolworths credit card in the following ways.

    • BPAY: If you’re paying your Woolworths credit card from another institution’s online banking facility, log on to your internet banking and select BPAY from the payments and transfers menu. BPAY payments can take up to two business days to process.

    • By mail: Send a cheque to Money Everyday Credit Cards PO Box 347 Artarmon, NSW 1570 and allow up to five business days for the cheque to be processed. You may also have to account for the time it takes for the cheque to be delivered in the post.

Can I use my Money Everyday Credit Card at an ATM and what fees are associated?

Yes. You can use your card to withdraw cash at any ATM worldwide that carries the MasterCard or PLUS logos. Cash withdrawals from ATMs are charged at the Cash Advance interest rate and will be charged from the withdrawal date. International ATM withdrawals incur a fee of A$2.50. Withdrawals at ANZ ATMs are free in Australia.

What happens if my credit card is about to expire?

Two weeks before your old card is about to expire a new card will be sent out to you in the mail. If, for whatever reason, you don’t get your card, you need to call Woolworths Money Customer Service on 1300 10 1234.

How do I find out my credit limit on my Woolworths credit card?

Your credit limit is how much money Woolworths will allow you to spend on your card. They use a calculation of your income, assets, debts and liabilities to find out how much you could afford to repay.

You can request a specific credit limit or you can request the maximum amount of credit you can get. If you want more credit, request a credit limit increase. Each request for more credit is judged by the same criteria, so don’t expect to be granted more credit if you’ve taken the maximum amount and your circumstances have not changed.

You can request a credit limit increase by downloading the credit limit increase form available on the Woolworths website.

How do I get an additional card for a family member?

There’s the option of applying for an additional cardholder during the online application for a Woolworths credit card. This can also be done after the application by downloading an additional cardholder application from the Woolworths Money website.

Each Woolworths credit card may allow you to get a different number of additional cardholders. You can find out more on our review pages.

Each supplementary cardholder must be over the age of 16 and an Australian resident. If you have a family member who is over the age of 18, they can apply for a Woolworths credit card in their own name.

If you want to cancel a supplementary card, you need to notify Woolworths Money in writing, and then cut the card up and send it back to them in pieces.

What do I do if I lose my card or it's stolen?

Report a lost or stolen card immediately to Customer Service on 1300 10 1234. Do this right away otherwise you may be liable for charges on the card if someone else tries to use it.

If you’re overseas call +612 8276 0144. A fee may be charged to get your credit card sent out to you.

Who is the credit provider for Woolworths credit cards?

Both credit card products offered by Woolworths are underwritten by HSBC — they’re the credit provider for Woolworths. All cards issued after the 26th of October are underwritten by Macquarie Bank.

This shouldn’t be something you need to consider when applying for a Woolworths credit card. However, this will be factor if you’re looking to transfer a balance to a Woolworths credit card from an existing HSBC credit card.

What’s the difference between Money Everyday and Everyday Rewards?

The Woolworths Money Everyday MasterCard and Qantas Platinum Credit Card are products that operate as credit facilities. You can use them to finance your day-to-day purchases or as an emergency source of cash.

The Everyday Rewards Card is a Woolworths product that you use to hold your fuel saving discounts, and earn Everyday Rewards Points when you spend at Woolworths Group stores.

Cardholders will see real benefits when the Money Everyday Cards and the Everyday Rewards cards are linked. Existing Everyday Rewards members can do this when they apply for the Woolworths credit card. You get money off at the fuel pump when you swipe your credit card, you earn Everyday Rewards on all your credit card purchases and you get bonus points when you spend at Woolworths stores.

What is the Reloadable Prepaid MasterCard?

A prepaid MasterCard lets you spend your own money to shop online or in-store. They can be used everywhere MasterCard is accepted.

They’re a budgeting tool that can also be used by people who have bad credit and want a hassle-free way to make electronic payments.

Can I get a Woolworths Prepaid Credit Card?

These cards are prepaid, there’s no credit facility, and there’s no credit checks. They are widely available to purchase in-store at Woolworths, Big W or Safeway.

        Hi ntombi,

        Thanks for your inquiry!
Please note that finder.com.au is an online comparison service and is not directly affiliated with Woolworths.

If you have decided this card suits your needs, you can apply for this credit card by pressing the ‘Go to Site’ button which will take you to a secure web-form which will allow you to complete your credit card application. The application will only take you 10 to 15 minutes to complete if you have the required information (identification, income and expenses) ready. The eligibility requirements for the credit card are also available at the bottom of the review page to help assess whether the card is suitable for you.

        I hope this has helped.

        Cheers,

I have a platinum Visa card which is now interest free for the amount that’s on there, if I were to take more money out will that amount be taken off first or last? If it’s taken off last then it’s accumulating interest while I pay off the interest free?

      • Staff
        Jonathan | June 17, 2015

Hi Katie, thanks for your inquiry!

In regards to interest repayments when there is an interest free amount/ promotional rate present on the credit card, repayments will go to the highest rate of interest repayable on that credit card then to the next highest rate of interest and so forth. As a result taking money out would qualify as a cash advance which would take the first priority for repayments unless there was a higher interest rate available.

        Cheers,

        Jonathan

Transfers to another account from a credit card are not supported. You would have to use a bank account or deposit facility in order to complete this type of transaction.

Hi Carl, thanks for your inquiry!

Any excess on the maximum balance of the Woolworths card will be placed in a ‘quarantined’ status. This means that the quarantined funds will be available to you after the card has sufficient space to accommodate the quarantined funds. Please refer to point 4c) of the terms and conditions PDF I have sent you for a numerical example provided by Woolworths.

        Cheers,

        Jonathan | February 4, 2015

        Hi Danny,

        Thanks for your inquiry!

Please note that finder.com.au is an online comparison service, we are not directly affiliated with Woolworths. Lenders have individual lending policies and Woolworths will need to assess your financial and personal situation to be able to advise on your options and eligibility. For self funded individuals they will need to check that they meet the minimum income requirements for the credit card.

        Woolworths eligibility criteria are as follows;

-You must be over 18 years old
-You annual gross earnings before tax should be at least $30,000
-You should have a good credit history

        I hope this helps!

        Cheers,

        Jonathan
