Woolworths Wish Gift Card Woolworths Wish Gift Card

The WISH Gift Card provided by Woolworths Everyday Gift Cards gives users the freedom to buy a range of products from a list of stores

Woolworths Limited issues an array of gift cards through Everyday Gift Cards, and these cards differ in what one can buy and where. While the use of a particular card can be limited to certain stores, the use of other cards are restricted to specific items.

The Woolworths WISH gift card varies from other offerings in the market by giving the cardholder the ability to buy just about anything from any Woolworths Group participating store, whether it be in-store or online. The card is available in a variety of different designs, allowing people to gift a card with the same feature to different people for different occasions.

What the types of Woolworths WISH gift cards are available?

  • Streamers gift card. This card comes with a distinctly festive design, and is ideal to gift when you feel a celebration is the order of the day.
  • Blue Steel gift card. The design on this card is simple yet elegant, and apart from making a great gift for your dad, it also works well with colleagues.
  • Dragonfly gift card. The dragonfly design is eye-catching, to say the least, and the feminine touch makes it ideal for your mother or that special someone.
  • Disco Lights gift card. This card relies on a sophisticated retro design to do the trick, and you can use it for an array of occasions, from thanking a colleague to simply wishing a friend well.
  • Online WISH gift cards. You can get the gift cards mentioned above as eGift cards as well. When looking online you get a host of other options, which include designs from categories like celebrations, heritage, and birthdays.

What are the features of a Woolworths WISH Gift Card?

  • Classic or online. You can get a Woolworths WISH gift card in the conventional plastic card format, which one can use in-store and online. You can also get a WISH gift card online, in which case Woolworth delivers the card to the recipient electronically, and the recipient also receives instructions on how to use the card in question, in-store and online.
  • Validity. These cards remain valid for a period for 12 months from the date of issue, giving users adequate time to make purchases. Once the card expires, the value of the card is lost.
  • Delivery time. If you buy a WISH gift card in-store you get the card straight away, and its activation takes place within 24 hours. If you buy it online, the recipient should receive it within the following 12 hours. If you’re buying a conventional WISH gift card online, delivery can take in between six to eight business days.

What are the benefits of the Woolworths WISH Gift Card?

  • Multiple participating stores. Anyone who has a WISH gift card can redeem it at any Woolworths Group participating store. They can make purchases in-store or online, but this depends on the retailer in question. Participating stores include Woolworths Supermarkets, BIG W, BIG W Vision, Caltex Woolworths, Masters Home Improvement, BWS, Dan Murphy’s, Cellarmasters, THOMAS DUX Grocer, and Home Timber & Hardware.
  • Flexible Amounts. You can get a WISH gift card with a value of as little as $5, and the maximum can be $500. If you want to gift more than the maximum limit, buying more than one card is your best option.
  • Customised cards. If you choose to go the eGift card way, you get the option to customise the card by uploading an image along with a personal message.

What other gift cards are offered by Everyday Gift Cards?

  • Essentials cards. These cards offer limited use, and one can redeem them at Woolworths Supermarkets, BIG W stores, as well as participating Caltex Woolworths co-branded fuel outlets. Cardholders cannot redeem these cards online, and they cannot use them to pay for Gift Cards and eGift Cards or tobacco and alcohol products.
  • Groceries Only Cards. You can redeem these cards only at Woolworths Supermarkets, in-store and not online. Again, you cannot use them to pay for Gift Cards and eGift Cards or tobacco and alcohol products.
  • Store Gift Cards and eGift Cards. These are store specific cards, and a cardholder can redeem a store gift card in-store or online, depending on the retailer. Some options include the Woolworths Supermarket Gift Card, the BIG W Gift Card, the DICK Smith Gift Card, and the BWS Gift Card.

What should I be wary of when using a Woolworths WISH Gift Card?

While gifting a WISH gift card is a good idea, you should take into account that these cards come with expiry dates, and, once this date passes, the cards are of no value at all. As a result, letting the recipient know of this aspect might not be a bad idea. If you’re getting a regular gift card you’ll have to pay for postage and handling, and secure courier delivery is more expensive than registered post delivery. With an eGift card you only have to pay the face value of the card.

Gifting a Woolworths WISH Gift Card can be a good idea for just about anyone, given the freedom of use that it provides. The range of designs ensures that you can pick one to suit just about any occasion. The card does come with some restrictions though, so keep those in mind when giving them as a gift.

      Hi Robyn,

      Thanks for your question.

Just to confirm, you have come through to creditcardfinder.com.au, not Woolworths.

As mentioned on the Woolworths Money gift cards website, you’re unable to cancel an order after it has been made.

I would suggest that you contact Woolworths directly so they can resolve the issue.

I’ve sent you an email with Woolworths’ contact details so you can get in touch with them directly.

      I hope this has helped.

      All the best,

      Sally

For a few years I have ordered wish cards online for my daughter in Australia. I am in the UK and had a log in password and email address. The system then changed your website had changed and it wouldn’t take my existing password etc. When I tried to renew this and change the password etc it wouldn’t accept it. I have also tried registering but at the end it is not accepted. Is it because the billing address is in the UK?
This was an ideal way for me to purchase a wish card for gifts etc. for my Australian relations. Do hope this can be resolved.

      Hi Geoff,

      Thank you for your question.

Just to confirm, you have actually come through to finder.com.au, not Woolworths.

The Woolworths Wish Card terms and conditions do not state anything about international exclusions, so you may want to contact Woolworths customer service team directly to see if there is another issue with your account.

      I hope this has helped.

      Thanks,

      Sally

I was sent a Woolworths Gift Card but don’t know how to redeem it. Can you help me?

    Kind regards

      Jonathan | May 13, 2015

Hi Lynne, thanks for your inquiry!

It’s easy to make a purchase with a Woolworths WISH Gift Card. These cards are used like a normal EFTPOS card. Swipe it at an EFTPOS terminal when you’re ready to make your purchase and the purchase amount will be deducted from the available funds on the card. If there isn’t enough money on the card to complete the transaction, the difference can be made up by another form of payment – like cash for instance.

      Cheers,

      Jonathan

I was given a wish gift card for Christmas 2014 it was only a $10.00 card but when I went to use it I was told that it was out of date I had not even scratched off the pin number on the card it says that the issue date was the 11/12/2014 and when I check it out on line it says the it expired 12/2014 but I never received it until Dec 2014 so the expire date is wrong as this is the issue date.

I’ve received a few wish cards from my local rsl club as prizes for some promotions i have tried to use them at my local woolworths store to purchase cigarettes, but have been met with unclear responses from both stores, one said yes but only to buy 1 packet, and the other store said no way to cigarettes or alcohol purchase, I find that quite funny when on the back of the card they can be used at dan murphys or bws, cellarmasters?????

Hi. In good faith, I bought my wife a number of $250 Wish Gift Cards when she was visiting Tasmania in March last year. Unfortunately, one of the cards found its way under the base of her bag and was only discovered this week. When I went to use it at BigW today, I was advised that it had expired; it has an issue date of 16/01/14. When I returned home, I used a magnifying glass to read the small print (I’m nearly 73 years old) and, sure enough, it says that the card expires 12 months after the issue date. It would be much better to print the expiry date in a large font rather than the issue date. Is there anything that can be done about the $250? I really can’t afford to lose 1/4 of a thousand dollars? Thank you.
